What particularly stood out to me is the book's geographic approach to climate risk. Rather than treating the economic consequences of climate change as one uniform national problem, the prospectus examines how exposure can differ from one part of the country to another, affecting everything from storm damage and agriculture to labor productivity, public health, energy systems, and other aspects of regional economies.

Dear Bob,

Thank you for your reply. Absolutely I checked the five-day forecasts for the locations represented in the invitation. For Wichita, we’re looking at a mix of showers and thunderstorms over the next couple of days, followed by some clearer weather toward the weekend. Around Rutgers in New Brunswick, the forecast is mostly sunny to begin, with warmer weather later in the week and a chance of showers toward Sunday. Palo Alto is looking mostly sunny and dry over the next several days, with temperatures warming toward the weekend, while Chicago is expecting some rain over the next couple of days followed by clearer and mostly sunny conditions through the weekend.

It’s interesting how different the forecasts are across the four locations, even over such a short period. I hope that gives you what you were looking for.

I also wanted to briefly follow up on the interview invitation and provide a little more detail about how the conversation works.

Why is electrification so powerful? EVs use around ¼–⅓ as much energy as petrol/diesel cars. Heat pumps can deliver 3–4× as much heat as gas boilers for the same energy input. So we get cleaner electricity AND use much less energy. Short primer with Prof Nick Eyre.
