I've been taking a hiatus from social media to focus on myself and my ideas; it has been difficult but useful to figure out where I'm going. Also, I got my Boris plushie a while back but never posted it online. Please support @bengthomas.bsky.social and 7 Days Of Science channel on YouTube.

A red and cream quadrupedal dinosaur plushie with three white spikes visible on its head and sides; it is facing towards the left. This is the Boris plush, based on Borealopelta, a type of ankylosaur.

The same Boris plush, now facing towards the camera. Swimbo, the Spinosaurus plushie, is placed next to Boris; Swimbo's snout rests atop of Boris's back.

I haven't been as active as I could be; I feel like I don't have a lot I can post about, plus I've been keeping myself semi-offline ATM. On the bright side, I've finally completed the notebook I had been using to figure out stuff. It's practically clinging on to its pages with how thick it is!

Abdel Majeed needs $350 to pay for his wife’s Leponex prescription and visits to the doctor. His campaign has had very little support, and anything you can give helps a ton ❤️ chuffed.org/project/1286...

an update from Abdel Majeed campaign from Wednesday, July 16th titled “please help my wife”. the update reads “To all friends, I urgently plead with a heavy heart to help my wife, a mother of two girls, who is torn apart by deep depression due to the Gaza war; we desperately need $350 for Leponex 100ml and doctor visits, and your donation, no matter how small, is a ray of hope to bring her back to her daughters and us--thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every act of support and humanity.”

I was looking very much forward to this but the Hammerschmiede clay pit turned out much more difficult than I anticipated. As one of the most important Miocene sites in Europe and 3 big pieces by Mauricio Anton already done... my own expectations were high.

An unusual Thylacine colour morph... This Bicolour thylacine displays both melanism and piebaldism. A speculative colouration that may have occured if thylacines were domesticated rather than driven to extinction. It is available over on my website; www.palaeoplushies.com/shop/thylaci...

A plushie thylacine. It displays striking black and white markings, with black down the back and white on the extremities. The "black" patches are actually a deep brown, with the stripes and regular thylacine markings showing through subtly. It has amber eyes and a pink nose.

Hi, just a reminder the internet is full of scammers, and to be very very careful when talking about commissions and things involving money publicly on social media. Double check usernames and profiles to make sure you're actually talking to the person you think you are and not an impersonator!

So these things are both true: 1) If you're in the UK you can still post on Bluesky without age verification, and people saying you can't are incorrect 2) the amount of content that will be covered by age verification is overly broad and will be a significant obstacle to UK users.

Among a whole host of other issues, the fact that the UK is bringing in age verification for online activity, as a country that doesn't have a standardised ID system, sucks 🙃 If you don't have the money for a passport or driving license, you're screwed. Unless there's something I'm missing here

Bluesky will be age-gating content for UK users. It’s your privacy that pays. The Online Safety Act has unleashed an unregulated market in age verification. That we have to do these intrusive checks with countless providers for different platforms is dangerous. www.theverge.com/news/704468/...

Bluesky is rolling out age verification in the UK

Bluesky users in the UK can verify their age using their face, ID, or payment card.

I strongly encourage readers of indie queer and especially trans books to start using itchio as more of us authors move away from Amazon. Authors get a bigger cut, you can tip, and, most importantly, you will actually own your ebooks instead of just licensing them from Amazon.
