iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Reposted by Rebus

Thank you Tapas for giving us yet another great example of why digital "purchases" that don't come with DRM-free downloads are no purchases at all, just rentals with an undefined time period :) I just loooove spending hundreds to thousands on a digital platform only to have you take it all away!

Screenshot from the Tapas shutdown "Ink and Refunds" section, with highlight on the last two paragraphs that basically say "Can my purchases be transferred to other Kakao-owned services? No. Can I get refunds? No." You just lose everything you've ever paid for on Tapas!

Please keep talking about Palestine! This is awesome news, it gives so much hope. More of this! Artists everywhere, big and small, must use their voices now more than ever. Our struggles are directly connected.

Israel's horrific, in your face conduct, combined with the suppression of antizionist criticism by pro-Israel political and social elites, has created a kind of cognitive permission structure to deny that Jews face any oppression whatsoever.

It's too depressing and obnoxious to write about, but virtually all of the doomy/horny AI hyperventilating is transparently displaced anxiety about our fucked climate and political situation. Even rich idiots know it's bad and being permitted to get worse. They're trying to write their own ending.

I don’t care how respected you are as a person, science educator, author, artist, etc. If I find out that you are using generative AI in any aspect of your work, you lose all of my respect.

I run on the assumption before the incident and subsequent social circle collapse that the Dreemurs and the Holidays were *swingers *only with each other as an unrealized secret polycule split in half by legal paperwork, social expectations and not knowing the word polycule bc they’re Gen Xers

was gonna say “I wish average schmuck type women characters were allowed to exist and be this schlubby” but this thought unfortunately led me realize you can count the number of lines spoken by a woman in the movie on your fingers, most from protag’s unseen gf on the phone about having a baby

The energy is akin to when a person is told to bring sunscreen to a vacation spot and they go Nahhh I’ll be Fine bc they can imagine the consequence as maybe 2 days of sunburn then moving on But I’m talking about the risk of there being no menstrual pads or fresh lettuce for 200 miles

i think indie projects who try to engender an aura of Progressive and Wholesome and/or Subversive of the Norms should put the time and effort into looking into how the plushies they promised in their kickstarters actually get made

being an aspiring artist who hates complicity and petroleum spun into plastic so much they stick to it and refuse to fund their endeavors w complicity and petroleum spun into plastic is a special level of hell but also the people living in the areas full of petroleum suffer more than we ever will

doing research Before the fact makes you a wet blanket but letting the wet blanket inform you of what you refused to learn gives you an excuse to whine the blanket's too wet & you're too used to enjoying bad thing to stop now so it's a win/win for people w no spine either way to just consume forever
