"Dear Trans Advocacy & Complaints Collective, Transparent Action, and
TransLucent
Thank you for your complaint about the Court's new exhibition. I understand
your concern to be that the presentation of For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish
Ministers appears to be weighted towards the perspective of those who
campaigned for and celebrated the outcome, while giving insufficient
recognition to those who opposed it. You have confirmed that you are not
challenging the judgment itself or the inclusion of the case in the exhibition.
As Head of External Affairs and Communications, with responsibility for the
exhibition, I have been asked to respond to the matters you have raised. It may
be helpful first to explain the exhibition's purpose and approach.
The Law and Us features 70 appeals heard by the Supreme Court, the Judicial
Committee of the Privy Council and the Appellate Committee of the House of
Lords, the predecessor to the Supreme Court. The cases cover a wide range of
legal issues and were selected to illustrate both the breadth of the Court's work
and the ways in which the law affects people's lives. The exhibition also explains
the creation of the Court, the development of law in the UK and the role of the
Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers is one of the 70 featured appeals.
As with the other case studies, it explains the background to the dispute, the"

"legal questions considered, the Justices' decision and a subsequent reflection
from a Justice or another person connected with the law. Images relating to the
appeal or its wider context were selected to help visitors understand the issues.
...You suggest that the headline, "When the law says 'woman', what does it mean?"
could imply that the Court went further than the judgment itself. The headline
refers expressly to the meaning of terms used in law. The question before the
Court concerned the meaning of "woman" and "sex" in a specific piece of
legislation. This is made clear in the case study under the paragraph heading
"The heart of the case". The display does not suggest that the Court provided a
general definition outside of the legislation it was considering.
Regarding your concerns about the images used - which you say "reflects the
perspective of those who celebrated the judgment" while largely ignoring those who
did not - the display features an image of the Scottish Government alongside that
of For Women Scotland, thus representing both parties in the appeal. This is
consistent with the approach taken across the exhibition. Their purpose is to
illustrate the case and its context, rather than to represent every individual or
organisation with an interest in the wider debate. The inclusion of any image
does not signify the Court's endorsement of any person or organisation
depicted. We did not visually represent the interveners; however, details of them
as well as the judgment, are available on the Court's website, along with the
recordings of the hearing and written_legalarguments.
Lady Rose's contribution is a personal reflection on the atmosphere in
Courtroom 1 when the judgment was handed down. It does not endorse a
particular position or present the outcome as a cause for celebration. The
exhibition also states that, when handing down the judgment, the Court
emphasised that trans people remain protected from discrimination under the
Equality Act 2010.."

Within the context of a single post we wouldn't consider it a direct threat or targeting a protected category. Ie send trans folks to concentration camps.

More broadly, does repeatedly attacking someone in a thread count towards harassment? Yes. Harassment is brutally hard to moderate though. It's a combination of behaviour + content, and the second you publish the details of the rules, people change their behaviour to avoid enforcement.

referrals and clinical suitability. Such concerns have been echoed in complaints
and correspondence received from members of the public. The NWJCC has a duty
to the residents we serve to ensure that the services we commission are providing
safe and effective services for the people using them. Taken together these
concerns, along with the data analysis, highlighted potential issues that the
NWJCC needed to take seriously. As a result, the matter was escalated through
the NWJCC's quality and governance arrangements and considered by the
Quality, Safety and Outcomes Committee (QSOC) on 24 August 2026.
On 24th August 2026, the QSOC met and endorsed the NWJCC’s recommendation
to:

Escalate the Welsh Gender Service to Escalation Level 3, thereby pausing
referrals from the Welsh Gender Service for gender affirming surgery;
The Committee also considered and endorsed proposals to:

Pause surgical assessments by providers; and to pause gender affirming
surgery for patients referred by the WGS; and to

Undertake an urgent independent clinical review of patients on the surger

The WGS decision was apparently made on the basis of the Welsh Vs English whole population figures, not the number of patients seen in the clinic. This is absolutely ridiculous, serious medical decisions should not be made like this. It's not an appropriate comparison!
