Part of the excavated rampart and ditch of the Iron Age fortifications at Stanwick in County Durham - a major trading centre and power base for the Brigantes tribe. The fortifications are some four miles in length and enclose an area of 766 acres. 📸 My own. #IronAge #Stanwick

A small 12th century church and a 15th-century castle at Kilcash, Tipperary. This historic landscape is perhaps best known for the Caoineadh Cill Cáis [The Keening of Kilcash], a famous lament.

Signes Høj: A significant, beautiful and well-preserved mound, with a great location in Ringsted, Denmark. It lies on the edge of a moraine near Tuel Å, in an area rich with other well-preserved ancient monuments, making it a notable landmark in an open landscape. It is dated to the Bronze Age.

Scorhill stone circle is now the common name for Gidleigh or Steep Hill stone circle near the village of Gidleigh in the north east of Dartmoor. It dates to the Bronze Age and is 27 metres in diameter.eter. It has 23 standing and 11 recumbent stones. #StandingStoneSunday
