My view this morning overlooking Worfield golf course with the Wrekin on the horizon. I didn’t have to get up really early this time as it’s only a short drive from home. See if you can spot the very tall spire of St Peter’s Church at Worfield! #Shropshire

It was just me and some sheep - and a glorious morning on Caer Caradoc, near Church Stretton. Follow me on a walk that takes in Caractacus’s Cave and spectacular views of the Long Mynd, the Lawley, Hope Bowdler, Ragleth, Helmeth, Hazler and the Wrekin. #Shropshire

Above the clouds - a bird’s eye view at the dawn of a new day in south Shropshire. On the horizon to the left is Caradoc and Hope Bowdler, with the Wrekin in the middle and Wenlock Edge stretching across the landscape in front of them. I had to look on a map to identify the dark shape #Shropshire

Another view from my recent visit to Callow Hill, near Craven Arms, with sunrise casting a warm red glow over Flounders’ Folly. Beneath the early morning mist is the River Onny as it makes its way to join the River Teme at Bromfield, while the Clun Valley can be seen in the far distance. #Shropshire

Yet another morning when my alarm went off at 4.40am. I made my way to Ludlow yesterday and this was the view from Whitcliffe Common at sunrise, with a flight of geese above the castle. On the horizon is Brown Clee and its summit of Abdon Burf, veiled in mist. #shropshire

Long shadows stretch across the fields on Callow Hill, near Craven Arms, as early morning mist shrouds the landscape below. Beyond the fields you can see Nortoncamp Wood and Stoke Wood, with the Brecon Beacons on the distant horizon. I do love my early starts! #shropshire

Another early start for me yesterday, but totally worth it. Mist was on the forecast so I set my alarm for 4.40 and headed out to Flounders’ Folly, near Craven Arms. The fields were shrouded in white as I climbed the path leading to this stone tower on Callow Hill, and as #Shropshire

Follow me on a walk to the summit of the Wrekin in the autumn sunshine - look out for the deer at the end! If I sound out of breath, it’s because I walked up the Wrekin twice with all my camera gear. #Shropshire

I do like an inviting path! This is the old drovers' road on Adstone Hill, near the western side of the Long Mynd. These green walkways date back to medieval times and were used to herd livestock across the hills and valleys. I was there for a couple of hours and all I #Shropshire

A spectacular sunrise over Ludlow, with St Laurence’s Church rising above the mist. Early starts aren’t always easy, but sometimes I pinch myself when they work out better than expected. This appears in a new edition of A. E. Housman’s A #Shropshire Lad featuring my pictures, on sale next Thursday 😊

I set off in bright sunshine yesterday to explore the footpaths around Ragleth, but the blue sky soon turned to grey. Landscape photographers are always at the mercy of the weather, but you soon learn to work with what you’ve got. In the end, the overcast conditions worked to my #Shropshire

They don’t call it the Needle’s Eye for nothing! Folklore says that you can’t call yourself a true Salopian until you have climbed through this narrow, rocky crevice on the Wrekin. I attempted it for the first time yesterday and, as you can see, it’s a tight fit. You are faced with a #Shropshire

Follow me on a walk up the Stiperstones, taking in Diamond Rock, Saddle Rock, Manstone Rock and the Devil’s Chair. It was a wet and windy evening but the sun came out when it mattered, and the views from the top were spectacular. #Shropshire

Honestly, the amount of time I have spent over the years sheltering behind the tors on the Stiperstones in the face of unrelenting wind and rain doesn’t bear thinking about. But that’s what I was doing again this week, hunkered down at the foot of the Devil’s Chair although only for #Shropshire

Getting out of bed at silly o’clock is never easy, but if there’s mist and sunshine on the forecast then a sense of anticipation takes over and I’m wide awake as I head off in the car. For this shot I was standing on the Long Mynd above Jonathan’s Hollow, near All Stretton. #Shropshire

It’s been a busy time in the garden. Two badgers have been enjoying the windfall damsons, the polecat has returned, a curious fox had a close encounter with a hedgehog, and a neighbour’s cat came face to face with a deer. Great to see what’s going on when you're not around. #wildlife

The story behind the picture... A field of purple phacelia at Beckbury, near Shifnal, taken at sunrise on the longest day of the year. I had set my alarm for 3.30am and the only sign of life as I drove along the lanes was the occasional rabbit darting out in front of me. Not long after #Shropshire
