They don't want to understand why educated people reject their philosophy. That's the whole reason why they made up the "liberal thought control" idea. It's to avoid dealing with the issue.

The issue isn't "Did Russia change the result?". The important thing is they tried & they'll keep trying. If someone tried to break into your bank account you wouldn't say "They failed once so it doesn't matter". You'd change your passwords & increase security before they had a chance to try again

I understand that it's politically challenging to give a grant to better off households, but you need people who can afford it to buy heat pumps when they're more expensive to stimulate the market so the cost will come down and they can be affordable for everyone.

This discussion gets mixed up in "Is Russia the reason Leave won", but that's not the important bit. The important thing is they tried. And we cannot let other countries keep trying to influence our elections until they find a way to succeed.

The standard argument is if you tax the rich they’ll leave the country and make the place poorer. On the other hand, if you don’t tax them and they stay, they pull this shit, making the country *much* poorer in so many ways.

The point is not whether it worked, it's that they tried. And they (and other countries) will keep trying until they eventally succeed. That's why it's important we take this seriously. If burglars tried to break into your home, you wouldn't ignore it because they failed, you'd get tighter security.

This debate gets too mixed up with "Is Russia the reason Leave won". I'm happy to concede Leave probably would've won anyway. The important thing is Russia tried. And we cannot let countries keep trying to influence our elections until they find a way to succeed.

3 years since Oct. 7. Count me among those who were appalled by the atrocity and appalled knowing atrocity would follow. Made things worse for just about everyone, except a few awful people who exploited it, and has left so many innocent people dead or suffering. I wish none of this had happened.

I've thought the Tories would go after IHT for a while - it's an obvious political choice given the voters they're targeting. But this is about the worse way to do it as it further gums up the housing market.

Really seems like Maine Dems could benefit from using a version of the 2008 message for voters who liked the maverick McCain: “She’s a decent person. It made sense for you to back her in the past. But it’s not good enough now. She enables Trump when it matters—and none of us can afford that.”

A common theme that drives me absolutely wild with elections/polling these days: 1. Right wing wrecks everything 2. Left of centre figure elected 3. Left of centre can’t fix all the damage in 5 seconds so the right wing, who have got 10x worse in the meantime, lead polls again/win next election

I effing despise RFK Jr. I had a cancer caused by HPV that had a massive impact on my life. I would have loved to have a vaccine that could have prevented all of that and whatnot. Yet that fool has claimed that HPV vaccines themselves cause cancer and he’s making bank on that lie and others.

I think we confuse the UK picking & choosing between all EU rules and UK successfully negotiating on one or two of them. I don’t think we can refuse free movement & euro & paying in etc, but we might be able to negotiate on just one issue (most likely the Euro)

Non-ADHD folks are often surprised at just how focused and competent ADHDers can be in crisis situations. From personal experience, I can say that it's because the crisis gives you permission to forget *everything* except for the problem in front of you. And that's freeing.
