Also relevant to PM, who would want to maintain good relations with large strategic partners like Pakistan and Nigeria, and who has made “growth in every postcode” one of his taglines. Harder to get that growth if the largest employer/innovator in many towns is cutting staff due to funding crisis.

Jerry Hall, Grace Jones, and Jessica Lange all lived together in an apartment in Paris, in the mid-70s, when they were all models trying to hit the big time. It's no wonder that Hall did not find Richard E. Grant's behaviour to be anything other than mildly eccentric. 😶

Greens do 'things differently', says source over former deputy's criticism
A Green Party source has responded to earlier comments from Caroline Lucas on the party's motion at its conference over the weekend.
They say: "There are ups and downs in politics and when people are passionate they disagree in the heat of a campaign."
The source adds: "We do things differently, unlike Labour who use anonymous sources and resort to factionalism."

It is two years since the Labour Government set out plans to curb the profits of private providers of children’s homes and foster care in England.

Israeli settlers beat press photographer as soldiers watch in West Bank
Jaafar Ashtiyeh was covering violence against olive farmers when settlers set upon him with the butts of their guns Armed Israeli settlers beat a photographer in the presence of Israeli soldiers, hospitalising him, as he covered worsening settler violence against olive farmers in the occupied West Bank. Jaafar Ashtiyeh, a 58-year-old veteran photographer for Agence France-Presse in Palestine, was assaulted by a group of settlers, who beat him with the butts of their guns, despite him being marked as press. The "zionism is racism" motion that has just passed on the Green Party's conference floor is truly gross, and deeply racist. The party's MPs deserve some credit for opposing it, though they should've done so more stridently and sooner. This is now a millstone around the party's necks. Deservedly.

The "Zionism is racism" motion, to be debated at the Green Party conference tomorrow, will not advance the Palestinian cause one inch. But, if adopted, it would marginalise and discredit the party. There are powerful ways to confront the genocide. Toxic gesture politics isn't one of them.

This thread is why “you have to vote Polanski to send Labour a message on their xenophobia/transphobia etc” is not simple. For starters, you’ve got a nakedly antisemitic motion as the top priority. If this passes, you can’t ask genuine anti-racists to vote for a party that endorses things like this.
