Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org · 25/08/2026
🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:
BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

Well, what I always say, "I just want everybody to be treated good." I try not to get into the politics of everything. I try to get into the human element of it. I have some of everybody in my own immediate family and in my circle of employees. I've got transgender people. I've got gays. I've got lesbians. I've got drunks. I've got drug addicts — all within my own family. I know and love them all, and I do not judge.

And I just see how broken-hearted they get over certain things and I know how real they are. I know how important this is to them. That's who they are. They cannot help that any more than I can help being Dolly Parton, you know, the way people know me. If there's something to be judged, that is God's business. But we are all God's children and how we are is who we are.

This year was incredible at @lakesoffire.org . I am particularly proud of both projects I brought - a 5 ft cedar sign, lovingly hand sanded and painted, as well as my glow in the dark Year Zero coins to celebrate our first year at our very own property. Man, that Year Zero was so on point.
Two burly folks with beards hold up a dark brown wooden sign that says "GREAT LAKES EXPERIMENTAL ARTS" in the National Parks font, with a red orange and yellow fire logo that represents Lakes of Fire. They are standing in front of a forest in hot weather attire.White and blue coins sit on a background of patches. The coins say on one side, "Lakes of Fire, Luther Year 0, 2026" with the fire-shaped logo, and on the other, "ART IS 4 ALL" in one direction and a stylized "CREATE JOY" in the other. Two of the coins are glowing bright blue.

🥵🪡 Dangerous, record-breaking heat will continue across most of the central and eastern U.S through Friday, then focusing across the eastern U.S. through the Independence Day holiday weekend. Peak heat indices of up to 115 degrees are possible.
A NOAA map highlights locations expected to tie or break at least one daily record high temperature between Thursday and Sunday across the eastern half of the United States. Each red dot marks a city forecast to experience one or more record high temperatures during the four-day period.

The greatest concentration of record heat is centered across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast corridor, with numerous locations from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine marked for potential record highs. Dense clusters are visible around major metro areas including Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston.

Additional widespread record heat potential extends southward through the Carolinas and Georgia, westward across Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and western Pennsylvania, and into parts of the Great Lakes region, including Michigan and western New York. The map emphasizes the unusually broad extent of persistent extreme heat expected to affect much of the eastern U.S. over several consecutive days.Displays projected peak “feels-like” temperatures. Much of the Midwest, Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and parts of the Northeast are forecast to experience heat index values above 100°F. The most intense heat is concentrated from Missouri, Arkansas, western Kentucky, and Tennessee eastward through Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Washington D.C., where values range from 110°F to 115°F, with localized pockets near 114°F. Northern states near the Great Lakes are somewhat cooler, generally 80–95°F.

It will never stop being funny to me that the street fighter subreddit has a much better, well reasoned ai policy vis a vis literally all universities.
Hi, thanks for posting! We do appreciate you thinking of us even though we have to moderate.

Our stance on all AI generated content (Images, Video, Voiceovers, and whatever else LLM based AI gets up to in the future):

At best, they are approximations of street fighter characters as the AI has no clue what it is trying to create. Because of this, there is no street fighter content so they are not allowed. (rule 1)

Also, they aren't allowed per our source rule. As AI sources cannot be tracked, we must assume that they use uncredited sources in the learning data. (rule 5)

Finally, AI images, video, text, and voiceovers are barely any different than posting a screenshot of a google search. The level of effort is so low that we consider it spam (rule 3).

Because of these reasons, AI art and other AI content is not allowed.

If you would like to contact the moderators about this removal, you can do so here.
