Vote early and in person, folks. If you're in a "vote by mail" state and can deliver your mail-in vote directly rather than relying on USPS this year, do it. Otherwise get it into the mail at the earliest possible date. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

The Postal Service is slowing delivery. Will your mail ballot be affected?
Democracy Docket mapped the affected zip codes.

I was thinking after a prior post of yours about how the last few years have ruined cleverness for me. Anything that doesn't push the needle forward on real issues feels worse than useless, it's appeasement. Zingers used to be fun.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

This trip wasn't fine dining so much as local diners all up and down the state. We did have some delicious 'pickle fries' (thin cut fried pickle spears), fried perch, french onion soup, a romaine wedge salad, chicken and waffles... But at the time of that post I was in Gaylord, so, Arby's.

I don't get your aggression. Its not superior, it has a f2p mechanic that allows people to keep playing and thus keep buying things, which was my point. Though I originally bought it when it came out. I'm not trying to win the internet, I am just making an argument for a change.

You don't seem to understand the difference between whining for a personal favor and a suggestion for improvement. If you (or more importantly, they) disagree, fine. I'm enjoying Guild Wars 2 plenty, but I personally would return to spend more if I had a way to keep playing. Which is the point.

I bought one DLC and swiftly went from being able to play free to play to no longer being able to play at all after a month. So now I'm not tempted to buy anything else through gameplay. It seems counterproductive to making money, IMHO. Please consider how to retain folks who drop off sub.

Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org · 25/08/2026
🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:
BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

Well, what I always say, "I just want everybody to be treated good." I try not to get into the politics of everything. I try to get into the human element of it. I have some of everybody in my own immediate family and in my circle of employees. I've got transgender people. I've got gays. I've got lesbians. I've got drunks. I've got drug addicts — all within my own family. I know and love them all, and I do not judge.

And I just see how broken-hearted they get over certain things and I know how real they are. I know how important this is to them. That's who they are. They cannot help that any more than I can help being Dolly Parton, you know, the way people know me. If there's something to be judged, that is God's business. But we are all God's children and how we are is who we are.

Not that it matters in the face of here-and-now joy, the experiencing and treasuring of being essential to thriving and, for many of us, even survival. True Self Authenticity doesn't matter in that context; we are who we need to be, and the changing never ends.

Skennedy @skenasky.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
What is "real", can one ever see or approach a "true" self? We are, and then we change, and we also are. What makes the prior us less real? Also, did we change or did how we see ourselves change... or is the differing view of ourselves (in light of unlearning, I guess) the actual change?

I realize that my (US) community is pretty left in general, but I don't know anyone confused about what happened here or who is to blame. When Canada says, "There is no way in hell we are buying U.S. liquor again", we say, "yeah, that makes sense. Who would?" The U.S. is enacting finance violence.

Working together (outside of commerce), playing together, creating together, discussing what's happening and what we feel about it in small groups, or together, or even writing for yourself, they all feel like a sidestep away from the freight train of American Culture. Community vs individualism

Skennedy @skenasky.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
I think the best we can do for ourselves (and, for me, my child) is to make conscious decisions about what to absorb from our culture, to actively think about and hopefully discuss a close read of what we consume, and to seek to create culture locally or even individually if you can call it that.
