Things I did today: Made paella, drank nice wine, played guitar, went to the Co-op, spent too much on Bandcamp, killed a god and ate some of him in front of his disciples by accident which led to a major collapse of a religious belief system. One of those things may have been part of a D&D campaign.

a critical weakness in far too many left-wing spaces is the lack of any real strategy for dealing with people who weaponize social justice language to lambast and tear down others while framing even the mildest - let alone well-deserved - pushback against them as bigoted abuse.

“You could not play-act into the past, you could not turn it into a game of make-believe. There had to be another way. Somehow you had to produce the living effect, while remaining true to the dead fact. The adult distance—the critical distance, the historical distance—had to be maintained. You stood at the end of the broken bridge and looked across carefully, objectively, into the unattainable past on the other side.”

I can’t vote, but I’m extremely disheartened by the results of the Okinawan gubernatorial election, and saddened for those who remember the destruction wrought by Japanese militarism, and all those affected by the ongoing presence of the US bases. An LDP victory will further entrench those harms.
