Today's jobs report is a reminder that tax cuts for corporations and the rich don’t create jobs or grow the economy. What's required is investment in working people — and better wages. When workers have money to spend, the economy grows and businesses create more jobs. Remember this.

A federal district court just held that police use of Flock cameras without a warrant violates the Fourth Amendment. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
constitutionally collect this information about one car-and its driver-by
following that vehicle on public roadways over a month. But this leaves the
question of why is it the government's business where everyone goes all the
time? The government cannot go snooping through our personal lives and
business without an adequate basis to do so. That is what the Supreme Court
has said since its decision in Katz through its decision in Chatrie this year,
nearly sixty years later. It is not too much to draw the line at indiscriminate
mass surveillance.
No doubt, ALPR technology comes with remarkable benefits that the
Court cannot ignore. But the Fourth Amendment requires courts to draw a line when the cost is too great. Alaniz's search in just the ALPR system
provided him with more than 50 individual records of Kyle's whereabouts
across the country for an entire month. The Court finds that because the
ALPR systems Alaniz used to search Kyle's historical location information
intruded on her reasonable expectation of privacy in the whole of her physical
movements, it was a search under the Fourth Amendment. Based on the
information in the record, the only reason Alaniz conducted that search was
because he saw her license plate was from California. That search was not
supported by probable cause, and it was done without a warrant in violation
of Kyle's Fourth Amendment rights. That search also has a nexus to the
remainder of the traffic stop because Alaniz began following Kyle's car while

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

6 Reasons Why Quitting Gen-AI Will Save the World This article in the form of a zine took an entire month to research and write, and is one of my proudest works to this day. From very early 2026. Digital Zine here: ko-fi.com/s/451ca68c81
6 Reasons Why Quitting Gen AI Will Save the WorldInformation about data centers and how much water and electricity they use.Generative AI although sometimes argued as "harmless fun" is detrimental to society and the world around us in these ways we will touch on:

- Pollutes cities displacing people and getting everyone sick who can't relocate
- Drains water excessively to cool data centers poisoning water leftover
- Wastes over 500 terawatt-hours of electricity per year globablly, which exceeds many small countries in usage
- used to replace workers, in multiple industries, filling the market with dangerous gibberish and slop
- Replaces therapists and endangers troubled youth who depend on it
- Most importantly it is frequently used tool of fascism and fascists including Trump and Elon Musk. Let's learn together today!

We at Skype a Scientist are deeply troubled by the closure of the Academy of Natural Sciences. We urge you to contact Drexel University Leadership and Academy interim leader Trish Wellenbach to urge them to reopen the museum. President Merlo president@Drexel.edu Trish Wellenbach tw958@drexel.edu
a block of text with a statement that reads We at Skype a Scientist are deeply alarmed by the decision of Drexel University leadership and the Academy of Natural Sciences Board to close the Academy’s public museum.

Skype a Scientist is based in Philadelphia with deep roots in our city. Making science accessible, in particular for Philly’s children, is a top priority for our organization. We operate in community centers, at street festivals, and at the intersection of science and art. For the last 10 years, we have worked to engage a broader coalition of Philly residents to care for our local biodiversity.

Our program does not exist in a vacuum. The work that we do, alongside environmental education centers, our museums, classroom teachers, and more, create an ecosystem of connections with science. The loss of any part of this fragile ecosystem is detrimental. The Academy of Natural Sciences grounds biodiversity education in Philadelphia. With grand fossil halls, historical connections, and engaging exhibits, it is a place where many Philadelphians develop a love of science. Loss of access to this space cannot be tolerated.

We are living through an erosion of public education, particularly in the life sciences. Philadelphia cannot afford to lose our flagship biodiversity museum.

We call on the leaders of Drexel University and the Academy board to reverse their decision to close the Academy’s public museum. The children of Philadelphia and future generations of Philly-made scientists are counting on you.
