Also "Pop-up Stick Puppet" which is at least descriptive.

Pop-up Puppets, according to teaching / crafting websites. But I wouldn't say they're especially well-known, at least in the UK?

Skip the first 3 for now (Gaul, Goths, Sickle - a bit like Colour of Magic & Light Fantastic), and go to Gladiator to start, is my advice. Sets up Gauls vs Rome in a clear way and has lots of familiar Roman elements (chariot races etc) for the younger reader.

Agreed, the strongest stories (Soothsayer or Mansions of the Gods my favourite) work best with the background of all the other books. But lots of travelling in the early books, only Gaul and Big Fight of the first 13 are at home. And neither of those a great place to start, IMO.

What is happening is not that AI-generated cultural goods are replacing human-made cultural goods; what is happening is that capital is flowing out of the production of cultural goods *entirely,* making us all poorer for it.

So frustrating, Greg. Should've been ahead at half-time, so close to 1-1, then folded. Bad vibes for the international break.

Honestly, try not to be nervous. So long as you're friendly and humble, everywhere there are people happy to help. All those places welcome millions of visitors every year. (Except maybe Gliwice.)

Refusing to use AI isn’t a recalcitrant position. It’s the moral one. There is too much wrong with how this is happening to just “if you can’t beat em join em” this. It’s a lack of consent machine. An environmental destruction machine. An emotional and cognitive numbing machine.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_... The Battle of Holbeck Moor in 1936. Oswald Mosley (whose grandson runs Palantir UK) tried to start nazi shit in the Jewish quarter of Leeds. *30,000* antifascists showed up to tell him to eat shit and die, pelting him and his buddies with rocks til they fled.

Why did these companies make these claims? Because their *customers* were making the claims. How could you hope to sell to a company that had 100x'ed its productivity with AI unless you, too had 100x'ed your productivity? 51/

He succeeded Viscount Chelsea (Charles Gerald John Cadogan, 8th Earl Cadogan, KBE, DL)? I haven't found any immediate opinions of how monstrous the Etonian billionaire peer and landowner was, or otherwise.

I am genuinely excited about a PM who will be serious about devolution. If done right it could give people more sense of control about their locality; free up Whitehall to focus on big strategic issues; and make it harder for a future national govt to burn everything down.
