I used to clean cash for a bank - so, legally - and looking back it was both relaxing (remove staples, clips etc and sort neatly into trays) and active (work the big room-sized machine, collect cleaned, counted cash in neat paper bundles, bag it.) Cool environment too (millions of £ in huge cages.)

Obviously this was part of my PhD so no shit I think about this stuff a lot, but it is really interesting to think about what past conceptions of personhood are like when you include funerary practices of disarticulation (and, in the case of Cladh Hallan, rearticulation).

This is The Golden Gospels of Henry VIII, possibly created for the coronation of Otto III in 983, but later owned by Henry VIII of England. It was written by at least sixteen different scribes, in burnished gold uncial letters on vellum painted various shades of purple using dye made from berries.

I'm a huge Robin Jarvis fangirl and devoured the Deptford Mice repeatedly. Every time there's something new to stab me in the heart. Audrey's story, and especially the history of the Starwife, really hits me hard. The monsters aren't the ones with the teeth. They're right at home, wearing masks.

We've been gathering feedback from early users, and we got one message loud and clear: it'd be neat to be able to preview flows based on game state. We found a solution which gets about 90% there, enough for early work – and doesn't lock you out from rolling your own. #gamedev #tooldev

The wifi wasn't working since last night. Roommate called and ISP said a tech couldn't come out until Thursday, and support said that they might charge $99 if it ended up being an issue we caused. Went into the basement to check the box, and this is how the WiFi box/wires were set up BY THE TECH.

I had no idea Jellycat had grown into some mad investment brand with rare ones selling for loads. My kids' childhood faves are Jellycats. They have names, are tatty and dog-eared, and ofc aren't going anywhere. Funny to see their modern price tags though.

Ending the week on a high by meeting what may be the oldest Scottish book still in Scotland. Late C10/early C11, it is a psalter in Irish minuscule, presumably created in Scotland, exact provenance unknown. Richly illum. initials throughout, with fine interlacing and lots of brilliant animal heads.
