While there is definitely some merit to the idea of paying parents to stay home (paid family leave anyone?!) this is not the way to do it at a time when several states have frozen child care subsidy enrollment due to lack of funding www.nytimes.com/2026/09/05/u...

Cornyn and Tillis folding on Blanche is the most predictable thing ever. They are cowards. The minute Blanche is confirmed, there’s nothing stopping him from reneging on this weaponization fund deal they’ve made. Vote for Democrats if you want a Congress that might actually stand up to this fascist.

This treatment of Fauci is so shameful. He did a great job against a horrific plague and despite a mendacious president and fearmongerers and grifters. What happens when there's another global emergency. Do we think civil servants and experts will rise to help save us when they are so treated?

For too many families in America, child care is either unaffordable or inaccessible. The cost of child care drives 134,000 families into poverty every year. They deserve solutions, not federal cuts making the crisis worse.
A graphic showing a map of the United States covered in dense clusters of dots representing child care deserts. Overlaid text reads: “Insufficient public investment in child care has led to high costs, low wages, and a lack of access to much-needed care. These high costs drive 134,000 families into poverty every year, and nearly half of the nation’s young children live in areas with inadequate licensed supply. Communities across the U.S. are struggling, while federal cuts make the crisis worse. Families need solutions now.” Center for American Progress logo appears in the bottom right corner.

46% of kids under 6 live in a licensed child care desert. That’s modest progress from the 51% in 2018, but millions of families are still without access. Explore the deserts in your community with our new map 📍 www.americanprogress.org/feature/ch…
