13 Monsters Good And True I think there are so many genuine monsters in the world that I am consoling myself by drawing little monsters who are good.
Drawing of 13 little 'monsters', rather cute little critters who wouldn't harm a fly, in fact they'd probably give it a bowl of milk and a tiny bed for the night.

Comparing AI to asbestos was worthy, I believe another good comparison is the way radium got put into products it had no business being in, because its power was seen as inately healing. (Also glow in the dark yay!) But also had genuinely good application in medicine, aeronautics, etc.
An early 20th Century newspaper or magazine ad, in French entitled Methode Tho-Radia/embellissante parce que curative/4°/Dentrifice Tho-Radia. To the left, an illustration of toothpaste being squeezed onto a toothbrush, to the right an illustration of a RADIANTly beautiful lady with contemporaneous appearance and most importantly, a beautiful smile. The ad promises toothpaste that is anti-bac, combats gingivitis, prevents cavities. Sold exclusively at pharmacies!

Jennifer Nelson’s entry to this year’s Minnesota State Fair crop art
A localized version of Guernica with a loon at the center and a person holding an ICE OUT sign

“My piece was inspired by Picasso's Guernica, a work that was his response to the Nazi's bombing of the Basque town. I thought there was a fitting parallel between these incidents about the high price paid by ordinary people when aggressive regimes try out new tactics of war, as well as a fitting juxtaposition of the darkness of living such an experience and the light we shone through it in our own resistance and care for one another. The patterns near Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s mouths are actually their last words in Morse code: ‘I’m not mad at you,’ and ‘Are you okay?’”

We estimate the cut to the NDIS in 2029-30 of $16.4bn is equivalent to around 52,000 jobs in the care sector - around 94m hours of paid care. Those care needs will not disappear they will just fall on families (especially women) live.thepoint.com.au/2026/08/the-...

Librarians, archivists, scholars, publishers, USians: The US House of Representatives passed a bill (HR 6028) which would move the Copyright Office from the Library of Congress/legislative branch to the executive branch. Contact your senators to vote against! www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...
Background The house passed a bill, HR 6028, which would, if passed in the Senate, remove copyright from LC (Library of Congress) and the legislative branch. This would not only be catastrophic for LC but all libraries. It would open the door for Al companies to absorb all works, especially unpublished works that the public doesn't have access to. What Can We Do About It? Call your representatives now. If you're not sure what to say, below is a script you may use. Script My name is [insert name] and I live in [insert location]. I am deeply concerned about the potentially devastating effects of HR 6028, the Legislative Branch Agencies Clarification Act, on the Library of Congress and copyright protections for the American people. I would like to hear the senator's response to three questions: How will H.R. 6028 impact the collections of the Library of Congress, which currently depend on deposit from the Copyright Office? How will H.R. 6028 impact copyright protections for the American people? What is the justification for placing a traditionally legislative body under the power of the executive branch?

Notes from ASIO report on Irish republicanism in Sydney:

"This whole Bession was devold of politics, every person at the meeting thoroughly enjoyed himself by singing Irish songs, etc.
There was no interest shown about H.M. The Queen's visit to Sydney and nothing was proposed in the way of demonstrations
