You sometimes see Government TDs pointing out that Ireland isn’t unique in the world in having a housing crisis. But this graph in today’s Financial Times shows just how extreme ours is compared to the places elsewhere, which also describe themselves as a in a housing crisis.
The share of young adults living with their parents is climbing in many countries and cities, with Ireland leading the way % of people aged 25-34 who live with their parents. National averages vs major regions

[5 line graphs. Ireland’s is sharply above 40% since 2010. The rest show US, U.K., Canada and Australia. The next highest result is the US at just over 20%]

At some point they brought in a sexy blonde hotshot surgeon ICE QUEEN. Her character starts out ok but pivots hard to some of the worst most shockingly mysoginistic writing I've ever seen, she completely unravels and ends up unaliving herself because she's so bananas

I've been rewatching the whole run and while the start has some genuinely incredible stuff, I think I almost prefer the sweeps week nonsense they gin up. One time the receptionist blows up an ambulance with a bazooka by mistake.

No we wouldn't. At least not in Dundalk, where SF suddenly became very interested in Repeal after ignoring us for years & tried to strong arm us out (PBP tried the same & actually flounced when told "No"). They were only ever in it for the clout. Regressives in red

NEW VIDEO ALERT LOVE ETERNAL is a surreal horror platformer and also one of the weirdest games I've ever played. It's playing with reused assets in meta way that I rarely see... so of course I had to dig into what was happening. youtu.be/SXUlWuGRTlg
A screenshot of LOVE ETERNAL that shows a 90's JRPG style UI with the option to PUNCH, next to a pixel figure standing before a projector screen if the lol u mad rage face on it. Additional rage comic meme faces hover over students faces in front.

this is fucking unreal stuff from Noah Wyle on the magic of The Pitt. www.gq.com/story/noah-w...
“It’s a couple of things that work beautifully in concert. First: no music. Audiences are so sophisticated, but what they’re not accustomed to is not being told how to feel,” Wyle says. “You take all that out and it forces a level of engagement where you’re now looking for clues within the frame of the screen, which forces you to look up from your phone. And I think that is extremely engaging, especially to young viewers who aren’t accustomed to being asked to participate in a nonpassive way in the viewing experience.“Second point, shooting it with almost exclusively 50-millimeter or 65-millimeter lenses, which is the most comparable to the human eye—and only shooting from the point of view of a human being that’s present in this space. There are no cameras on gurney wheels going in the hallway. There’s no cameras on the ceiling looking down from a God point of view. You are limited to the perspective of a participant. You can look away, but you can’t leave, and it becomes an endurance test for you to stay on your feet as long as we’re on our feet. Which [brings me to my] third point: real time. Real time has an aggregate sense of tension that you don’t get in any other form of storytelling. What happened before is happening now, and these two things are going to add up to the next thing. And if we throw more ingredients into this cooker and keep ratcheting it up, it’s going to pop.”Wyle makes eye contact for his next point, delivering it with a Robby-esque matter-of-factness. “Fourth point: The election went the other way,” he says with a shrug. “We could have been a really good show with a lot of nice things to say in a perfectly normal Kamala Harris universe. And instead we became almost a beacon of hope and humanity in an alternative universe. But in the midst of that, fifth point—this is essentially competence porn. You’re watching really smart, dedicated people do what only they know how to do at a level that you don’t know how to do it, and you’re so fucking glad that they’re there doing it, and compartmentalizing their own stuff to put your broken pieces back together. You’re so reassured by knowing that there are people out there that laugh and joke and have the ability to lock in like that.”

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.

I really dont care about how "history will remember this". You stop genocides when they happen. You depose anyone in power who argues for genocide. You throw people who threaten genocide in jail. You do it today. Not wag your fingers in 50 years.
