It's okay for people to have friends and live quietly and not be famous. Most of us should be so lucky.

I remember the first time I saw a version of this, in college in the 2000s. I'd been seeing the other kind of guide for a decade before this one made me laugh and flipped a light switch on in my brain. It made me feel like the world made sense after all. It made me feel safer, somehow.

Yesterday this image got auto-flagged as "sexually suggestive," which I found especially annoying because being vulnerable is not the same thing as being suggestive. So I appealed, and to my delight it's now unflagged. Complaining works!

The entire of Heaven Vault’s spoken language was built this way. Eg “Maersi” has a translation which shares syllables with “Elasra”, Aliya’s surname, enabling the decipherment of the true meaning of “Heavens Vault” in Book 4. Maersi is “Mars with a few more vowels”. (Iox is Io with an X on it)

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

So apropos of nothing in particular, let’s talk about media tie-in novel pay vs. original work pay, shall we? Let’s say you write a novel. It’s set in your own world, your own characters, and titled The Original. You get a book deal! Look at you go!

It's actually really fun and cool how I'm not allowed to be upset by graphic, bloody descriptions of gun death suddenly crossing my feed as long as they're jokes about Charlie Kirk. Since gun violence has no other associations for me, this hasn't made the internet worse for my mental health at all.

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.

It’s amazing to me how many people have never heard of an accomplice. Oh so if I helped you plan how to kill someone and then you did it, all of a sudden that’s on me? Yes! You’re an accessory to murder!

If someone told me to commit a crime or something else, is it that person's fault if I do it? Are we really trying to say that we have no free will when talking to Al? I'm sorry but blaming Al for people acting on its 'advice' is removing the blame from the people doing the actions. The blame still lies with the person taking the action.

Sometimes I feel almost facile saying any of this,I think because I assume my audience already agrees, but it has not become any less true that ICE ought to be abolished, Palestine ought to be free, trans people ought to be fully recognized as their gender, and also that’s not a complete list either

Humaning.
A four-panel comic. In panel 1, a Northern Cardinal and American Goldfinch perch above a busy crowd in a city, looking down. The cardinal says "It's a nice day to go humaning." The goldfinch says "Just look at them. Majestic." In panel 2, a close-up of the two birds. The cardinal says "Nobody tells you that you'll reach a certain age and suddenly get into humaning. I hit 3 years old, and then bam."The birds are looking out over the crowd scene. In panel 3, the cardinal says "Their calls sound funny to us, but each one has a unique meaning." Below, people are saying various things: "I'm tired." "Where's my phone?" "I'd murder a burrito." In panel 4, the birds look down excitedly at a man walking by. The cardinal says "Wait, is that a guy who got dressed in the dark and put his shirt on inside out and backwards?" And the goldfinch exclaims, "Holy... that's a lifer!"

Okay but what if I wrote a fanfic set in the Looney Tunes universe in the style of Mexican Magical Realism
The cunning man lit a candle. “Other spirits dwelt in this land long before Don Satanás: the jaguar, the turtle, the feathered serpent. He is a powerful trickster, but there are tricksters older than he. Go out in the desert, and ask Coyote to show you the way.”

“You expect me to talk to a coyote?”

“He won’t talk. If you’re lucky, he’ll show you a sign.”

IMO, the solution should not be to browbeat people into an old standard, but rather allow people to wear whatever they want. If someone can wear ducky pajamas in public, you can wear tailoring in any cut, color, and material. As options open up, dress can then be a source of pleasure.
