the middle bit of my aphrodisiac song, "cocoon", depicts the chaotic world as observed from the safety of my cocoon. here's a cross section--it was all done in tracker! also, it's bandcamp friday so today's a great day to support 21 composers & a great label! infloresce.bandcamp.com/album/inflor...

On the 3rd of October 1982, the 1st episode of Super Dimension Fortress Macross aired. Created by Shoji Kawamori, this would be the start of the iconic Macross franchise. Happy 44th Anniversary 🎉

An idyllic fantasy town, it's mainly huts with straw roofs. It has a market, a tower, a couple of monuments and a large half wood half stone castle in the background.

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

Japanese used bookstores are reporting a massive uptick in bulk purchases of used Japanese books by overseas buyers, seemingly without any regard to their contents. The only logical conclusion is that these books are being stripped, scanned, and discarded to train AI models.

I dont think younger people realize just how massively popular and culturally significant the Lord of the Rings books were in the 1970s in the USA. Millenials experienced but a fraction of this when the Peter Jackson trilogy released.

I made a tool that makes retro anime sound effects. Meet AnimeVox! I made it for a game, but it's free to use. I'm using the forgotten (but popular in 80s japan) Schroeder reverb algo, and some wobble. If you find it useful consider supporting me on itch :) castpixel.itch.io/animevox

the anime sfx-making tool!
It's called ANIMEVOX, in big letters up top.
Then there's the controls:

In vertical pairs:
Left:
Pitch Rise
Rise speed

Reverb
Room size

On the right:
Wobble Speed
Wobble Amount

Tone Brightness
Volume

Next is a row of keys:
Randomize - randomizes the sound parameters
UNDO/ REDO - go back to parameters you liked
Export Wav - self explanatory, it saves a copy of the latest sound to your hard drive.

Then the fun buttons, with cute art styles:

IMPACT, sparkle, beam, powerUP, PON, BOOM, slash, woosh

Each produces a preset sound, which then goes through the fx chain.

Hope you enjoy it!

it's rare for an actor to make a single line iconic, but Tim Curry made single WORDS iconic multiple times. "space!" is an obvious one for gamers, but also his "no" in Clue ("nneeauoo!"), his awkward laugh through the word "babe" in Oscar. he made HALF a word iconic (you know the one)
