At 7 myself and @nrennie.bsky.social are running a workshop for visualising the UK’s LGBTQ+ population for the @rainbowr.org conference. The workshop will introduce participants to the LGBTQ+ data produced by the UK 2021/22 censuses and them participants create visualisations with it.

Finished this one yesterday. The iridescent glass makes it look a bit different on each side (think I prefer the yellow > blue). The leading was awful and my soldering needs more work. But first piece of 2026!

2025 had several lows but one of the positives was me discovering stained glass 🥰 A thread of everything I’ve made since Aug 2025 that I remembered to take a picture of: 1. Picking colours 2. Cut glass 3. First foray into leading 4. Finished piece!

The finished piece in the sunlight! It’s an abstract scene, that I’ve chosen to be quite like a landscape.

Dr Yu Wei Chua, lead author and Research Associate in the Health Inequalities and Policy Research Group at the University of Liverpool, and NIHR Researcher at the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Consortium said: “Our findings show that the mental health gap is already firmly in place by age five, regardless of whether we use income or maternal education to index socioeconomic disadvantage.”

A new paper in The Lancet, one of the world’s foremost peer reviewed medical journals, estimates that USAID prevented 91 million deaths across 133 countries over 20 years. The paper estimates that Elon Musk’s DOGE funding cuts to USAID will lead to 14 million deaths by 2030 (4.5 million children).

This times a million! Going down a teaching-specialist lecturing track IS an intentional choice for many of us on that route. Some of us actually love teaching, love working with staff to also enjoy teaching, and ensuring universities adhere to their civic duty of being EDUCATIONAL spaces.
