Today marks the 52nd anniversary of the publication of the Glasgow Coma Scale in @thelancet.com. The scale was devised by two of our College Fellows Graham Teasdale & Bryan Jennett. It remains the default method for assessing consciousness in many hospitals worldwide. Happy Birthday GCS🥳

Honnor Morten was a nurse-campaigner who founded the School Nurses’ Society in the early 1900s. Her work had a great impact on keeping children in school. This book with its stunning cover was a great addition to our school nursing exhibit. Read more about it here: bit.ly/4mKVaoe

This is the oldest of 3 stones for nurses and domestics of Glasgow Royal Infirmary in the Glasgow Necropolis. The staff listed died between 1872 and 1887. All bar one were in their twenties, came from outside the Glasgow area and died from conditions to which they were exposed during their work.
