Year to date 211 species, which is second highest at this point, only behind last year on 213. 155 species in September, just above average, with six additions to the year list: Cory’s Shearwater, Grey Phalarope, Wryneck, Woodlark, Gropper and Brambling.

A brilliant day for passage offshore. Most notable totals included 68 DB Brents, 12 Shoveler, 20 Wigeon, 45 Pintail, 25 Teal, six Redshank, 50 Little Gull, two Sooty, two Manx and 141 Balearic Shearwater. The highlight was a probable first for Dungeness in the form of a Sunfish drifting east.

The highlight of seawatching at Girdle Ness today was my first Black Tern of the year, but this 'close enough for record shots' Sooty Shearwater was just as enjoyable. Also, 2 Little Gulls, 4 Arctic Skuas, 2 Manx Shearwaters and a Great Skua. #Birds #BirdingScotland #PatchBirding #UKWildlife

I've become more & more obsessed with seabirds in recent years, with all the Skua species amongst my favourites. So it was terrific to see numbers of Arctic Skuas patrolling the tern flocks off Dungeness last week, a few light phase birds but most were dark phase ads & juvs. #UKBirding #Seabirds

I suspect the overnight ECMWF det. run got carried away here, but it predicted a genuinely hurricane-force windstorm just west of Ireland early next week. The potential for a powerful windstorm is legit, but this is probably near the top end of what's possible.

A nice FOY Grey Phalarope at the Ferry Pool at Pagham Harbour this afternoon. Not much else about in the strong wind though.
A small bird with a grey back, white underparts, black markings on the face, and a black bill. It is framed by a metal fence and is in shallow water.

Half an hour seawatch off Seaton from 7am produced 11 Balearic Shearwaters, 4 Kittiwake and 2 Commom Scoter west, plus a Hobby that flew out to sea but five mins later flew back in/off again!

The Selsey birders were saddened to hear of the passing of two Peninsula stalwarts recently. Colin Eames (with his wife Mich) put in a great number of hours at the Bill and both were especially kind and helpful to me (BI) when i started watching there in the 2010s.

Blue skies on my Chichester Harbour @webs-gsmp.bsky.social count this afternoon. 340 Oystercatchers the main bird of note on the very high tide. Masses of Sandwich Terns in the harbour (200+) showing what a good breeding season was had at Pagham. Too windy for many small birds though.

Dungeness: It's the first time I've known a juvenile Long-tailed Skua not to be the main event at Dunge sea watch, also 30+ Arctic Skuas, 15 Black Terns, 100s each of Common and Sandwich Terns.

A superb afternoon seawatch didn't have a great deal of birds but it did have excellent quality - the star being a first for Dungeness in the form of an adult Brown Booby! Other goodies included a close juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 15 Black Tern and three Little Gull. #kentbirding

Dungeness: Some highly cropped images of the fantastic Brown Booby, that was brilliantly picked out by @neilburt.bsky.social in among a large distant feeding flock of Gannets this afternoon off the fishing boats. Despite woeful phone signal at Dunge most the of the locals connected thanks to radio.
