Tech lawyer guy. Recovering CISO and IT Director. Still optimistic but it’s not getting any easier. Views my own, skeets definitely not legal advice. Currently under occupation. #DCStatehood

What is an extremely nerdy/obscure/specific thing you hate with a white-hot wrath? Four people at a table: four food menus, one drink menu. Every time. I will never not be mad about this.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Lived in Denver when funding for the new airport was on the ballot. Voted no every time. And every time I fly in and out of this airport (about 4x/year for 10+ years), I am more convinced it was the right vote. What a disaster. 🖕 to you, Federico Pena.

Going through the new KIDS Act and this section from the AI Chatbot section is making me scratch my head. When would a chatbot be a licensed professional?
Text from KIDS Act section for AI Chatbots: "A chatbot provider may not provide to a covered user a chatbot that states to the covered user that the chatbot is a licensed professional (unless such statement is true)."

Dear car makers, Knock it off. You shouldn’t have to be digitally stalked to drive a car. We would never allow a car company to follow you around, document your driving habits, and sell it to companies like a dirty little snitch in the physical world and we shouldn’t allow it in the digital world.

This excerpt from "Into the Wood Chipper" might be the saddest, most insane thing I've ever read. Millions of lives ended by the dumbest people imaginable. There is no hell hot enough for those behind kiling USAID. Thank you Nicholas Enrich for writing it. www.simonandschuster.com/books/Into-t...
“Can I just clarify one thing?” she asked, not waiting for a response. “This group seems very focused on what GH does to respond to infectious diseases, but we haven’t spoken much about our other lifesaving work. Just as one example, we support lifesaving care to mothers for emergency inter- ventions like postpartum hemorrhaging and eclampsia, two of the leading causes of pregnancy-related deaths. You would also consider that kind of work to fit into our ‘priority number one,’ right?”

Another brief silence followed as Joel watched the clock, and it was Paul Seong who broke it. “I’d say that’s more of a number two,” he said dismissively, looking to Joel and Ken for affirmation.

“That sounds right,” Joel agreed, and the others nodded. Nida, shaking visibly, scribbled furiously in her notebook. And just like that, it was decided. Without even a cursory nod to data or expertise, USAID’s leadership had determined purely on a whim that lifesaving maternal health services were not a priority for this administration.
