Susan Collins has never cared about her constituents. She prioritizes her own needs over everyone else and it’s long past time that we kick her to the curb.

Early voting starts today in Maine! Starting today (through Oct 29) you can vote at your local town office. If you’re already registered to vote, you don’t need to bring anything with you. If you haven’t registered to vote, just bring proof of ID and residency with you to register same day.

NEWS: ProPublica reports the FBI was building a pay-to-play bribery case around Susan Collins, after a defense contractor's CEO said he funneled cash to her super PAC in exchange for tens of millions in Navy contracts. Then Trump and Kash Patel gutted the FBl's anti-corruption unit and the investigation died, just as Collins fights to hold her seat.

100% Harvest Buck match is back for SNAP/EBT customers at Maine Farmers’ Markets! 🍎🥦🥕🌽
A photo of Maine Harvest Bucks Bonus Vouchers with a basket of green cabbage. Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets:

Big news! MAINE HARVEST BUCKS IS BACK TO A 100% MATCH, effective today, Monday, 9/21! Now when you spend SNAP/EBT at any Maine Harvest Bucks market or farm stand, you'll receive the same amount in vouchers for more fresh veggies, fruits, or plants to grow food. We are thrilled to be able to do this right in the middle of harvest season, when farmers have so much bounty to share and the time is right for stocking up on storage crops.

How is this possible?
-The State of Maine nutrition fund
-The release of more state Nutrition Incentive Funding with the passage of LD 468 earlier this year
-A whole lot of successful fundraising this spring and summer

Now we know that we have enough to match Maine Harvest Bucks all through this fall and winter.

Maine Harvest Bucks is the lynchpin of our statewide programs, is the reason SNAP/EBT is accepted at more than 70 markets and farms, and brings over $950,000 in direct, full-price retail sales to vendors each year. We are relieved to be able to do this now, not only for all the shoppers who can stretch their food budget a little further, but also for all of the hardworking farmers and producers who depend on these sales to keep growing. We'll always have to fundraise to keep this program thriving, and we could always use your help. Learn more about Maine Harvest Bucks and the impact it has on our food system at maineharvestbucks.org

It’s finally cool enough for me to make corn chowder. My secret? Corn broth. This time of the year you can find lots of yummy local corn. I cut the kernels off and freeze them then use the cobs to make corn broth (which I also freeze) to use for fresh tasting corn chowder in the middle of winter.

🚨Attn: Maine farmers. The weather forecast for tomorrow into this weekend includes 🧊 icy conditions. Please take the necessary precautions. (The notice in the photo came from MOFGA.)
August 20, 2026

We have received word that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids are anticipated for tomorrow, August 21, this weekend, extending early next week with a specific focus on farms, farmworkers, and construction sites. Farms with H-2A employees should stay particularly informed.

Some key considerations at this time:
There is reported to be a current increase in ICE agents in Maine using drones to monitor entrances and exits to job sites. If you see a drone over your farm, please report it to the ICE watch hotline at 207-544-9989 immediately.

ICE, border patrol, and law enforcement must have a judicial warrant or your consent before detaining or searching your buildings. Here is an informational sheet to help you understand your rights. They can enter farm fields, however. Have a plan in place with your staff about moving to a building if a drone is spotted.

If there is ICE activity on a farm the hotline should be notified immediately, and anyone who is able should film activity. Please make sure everyone knows that they can legally film, however they cannot interfere with any detention.

Make sure that all employers and employees if possible understand the difference between an administrative and a judicial warrant. Here is an informational sheet.
Have emergency contact information for your staff in case someone is detained.

Make sure indoor spaces are posted as private (see example sign above and here to print and put up).

If workers are detained ILAP needs to be contacted and forms filled out for legal aid.

Life lately.
Today is August 19th. Classes at EMCC start on Monday, August 24th. Adjunct professors (myself included) still don’t have contracts for the fall, yet we’re expected to have been making our courses and getting materials ready for courses that haven’t been officially assigned to us. Students have been emailing their instructors, we’re supposed to be replying. I should add, when contracts are given the terms start the first day of the semester and don’t include all the time spent working before the semester starts.

So let me ask you this, would you show up to a job and start working without a written job offer? Would you show up to a job and start working if you knew that when you eventually got the job offer, it wouldn’t pay you for the work you had already been doing?

Riddle me this: If Susan Collins is a moderate and not a hardcore conservative, then why are Republicans always putting millions toward her reelection and why haven’t they put anyone up to challenge her? Hint: It’s because she’s never actually been moderate. She’s as conservative as they come.

He has never been a union member. Ever. As the only union leader who ran against Graham, I can’t say I’m surprised. We have a habit of propping up terrible men with no experience or education when there’s plenty of qualified people (usually women) working their asses off and getting dismissed.
