Trump's NSF appears to have basically eviscerated social science research. Can't even find the names of the traditional directorates on the webpage. All of the RFP landing pages are "awaiting" publication of the next due date...which may be never until Trump is gone.

In the present situation - with a Republican president with dementia, and a democratic party heavily beholden to tech donors - I don't anticipate that such a compromise would come off particularly well. Thus it probably makes sense for environmentalists to hold off on calls for reform.

This memorandum reminds officers and the public that adjustment of status under section 245 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) is a matter of discretion and administrative grace not designed to supersede the regular consular processing of immigrant visas.
