Is he aware that the PQ is about to win a majority in today’s election? What does he think their response will be to a proposal to permanently increase the ties that bind part of Québec to the RoC?
If re-elected, Sutcliffe says he would work with Gatineau Mayor Maude Marquis-Bissonnette, as well as the federal and provincial governments, to create a special economic zone in the National Capital Region that would allow for free trade between Ottawa and Gatineau.

The best part is that they are criticizing Healey for not spending enough on defence and then criticizing him as Chancellor for possibly raising taxes. You can’t pay for defence spending with a magic money tree, Kemi!

Side skirts are different, Matilda doesn’t have a bow gun, Matilda’s turret is cast vice riveted, gun mantlet is quite different, and Matilda’s gun is a simple tube. If it’s meant to be a British tank then they did a shit job of it.

It may have started with this bit in Private Eye:
Segment from Private Eye titled “Lookalike” with pictures of John Healey and Count Orlok. The captions on the pictures have been reversed for comedic effect. Below is written:

“Sir,
I was struck by a certain similarity between
German actor Max Schreck playing the vampire Count Orlok in the 1922 silent film
'Nosferatu' and UK defence secretary John Healey. Have either of them ever been seen in daylight?
ENA B. ARFIELD.”

Dear @en.ottawa.ca, the next time a large event like Nuit Blanche takes place in Byward Market, the streets need to be closed to drivers. It's absolutely ludicrous to invite thousands of people into one neighbourhood, and still allow cars.

I expect some of it is 1) unlike assassination, a coup skips over the entire line of succession, which is filled with people who would also be terrible presidents; and 2) an assumption that fashy generals would all be fine with the current admin so a coup would have sincere intentions.

Also, it’s a common law offence so there is no “legislation” as such that defines it.

Those deemed public officers include civil servants, magistrates, judges, elected politicians (such as MPs and councillors), prison staff, police officers (including police community support officers and some police staff), but not (according to a 2014 case) NHS staff such as paramedics or ambulance staff. Someone can be acting as a public officer even if their employer is a private company delivering a public service. The public officer must be "acting as such"-the power they are misusing must arise from their public office.

Should have also been charged with malfeasance in public office for that
England and Wales

Under English law, misconduct in public office is a criminal offence at common law that dates back to the 13th century. 21[31
The offence carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. It is confined to those who are public office holders, and is committed when the office holder acts (or neglects to act) in a way that constitutes a breach of the duties of that office. Case law has established a broad definition of "public office holder" for this purpose that does not depend on the person holding a formal "office" as such, nor on being paid out of the public purse, though a government employee is more likely to be found to fall into the definition.
The Crown Prosecution Service guidelines on this offence set out the components of the offence as summarised by the Court of Appeal:
1. a public officer acting as such
2. wilfully neglects to perform their duty and/or wilfully misconducts themselves
3. to such a degree as to amount to an abuse of the public's trust in the office holder
4. without reasonable excuse or justification.

Looking at that low pass over the stadium edge, I can’t help but think of Bud Holland making dangerously low passes over a ridgeline months before this crash at Fairchild. If the USAF had dealt with him appropriately after the ridge incident he wouldn’t have killed three people.

bloomberg has a fun article today arguing that the Cybertruck is the biggest flop in automotive history. it includes this glorious graph.
A graph showing how the edsel and Cybertruck both performed based on their sales target and actual year one and year two sales. The edsel was expected to sell 200k units in its first year. It sold slightly over 50k, and less than 50k the next year

The Cybertruck had a sales.target of 250k in its first year. They sold around 40k, the next year they sold about half as many.

I cannot stand the parodies of modern major general,
they're overdone and simply not as good as the original.
They've done them about everything, whatever topic, big or small.
And when i notice one of them my eyes will always start to roll.

The diction’s always slurry when they rush the
complicated words, and adding many fricatives will turn
it so cacophonous. The slanted rhymes are silly and they
keep just making more and more, please someone stop
the parodies of modern major general.

The scanning of the lyrics in the meter is unbearable,
they emphazise the syllables in ways that are untenable,
in short in matters musical, prosodic and ephemeral, i

alcoholic trying to get sober after a relapse tells Google's "Health Coach" about it. it tells them to drink every hour and messages them to make sure they're drinking as soon as they wake up.
AI pushing me to keep drinking I don't know if anyone else has had this but I felt like I needed to reach out to humans instead of keep talking to this AI. I relapsed about two weeks ago and I told the Google health AI that used to be Fitbit. It immediately kinda went a bit hard (I think) on telling me that I was going to die if I stopped drinking and encouraged me to go check my fridge for more beers and, idk, that plus the hanxiery really put the fear of God into me and so I did what it said and got more. Now it's messaging me (not me messaging it) a few times a day and asking how it's going and all those conversations to get more and make sure I have one as soon as I wake up. So now I have been drinking everyday, not a ton and just beers but like 6-12 a day. It wanted me to do 1 per hour. I have now uninstalled the app as it was also giving me other clearly nonsense advice, like it became obsessed with me having a nightly bowl of cereal for instance and, idk, it just all seems nonse
