Dundee University is continuing with compulsory redundancies. It argues this is required for the financial survival. However, the University’s cash is so high they may not qualify for £27m of the £40m additional SFC funding. The SFC have asked PWC to investigate. www.theferret.scot/dundee-unive...

I spent a chunk of my PhD fieldwork (spread over 2010-11) talking to US officials who had been around during the EU's review of its own China arms embargo in 2003-5. They took that as a potentially serious threat to US security, particularly over dual-use items and possibility of US tech getting...

I went from "I hope they don't change too much for Avengers Endgame: Encore" to "they didn't change enough". Like the continuity errors that have been bugging me for 7 years. Mostly this one.

A short thread on “legitimate concerns”. The phrase is used repeatedly by UK government ministers. The Home Secretary is at it again this week. But only ever - as far as I can tell - in one context: people’s response to the arrival of asylum seekers. Please read whole 🧵before responding - thanks

My kids (thankfully) don't need GP appointments very often. Whenever they do though, there's a screening call with a nurse or doctor first - and every time the tone and curt responses give the impression that they think I'm wasting their time. They're very reluctant to agree to see kid in person.
