Beige fat surrounding blood vessels actively works to keep high blood pressure in check, according to a new Science study in mice. The findings support the notion that therapeutic activation of thermogenic fat tissue could help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. scim.ag/4jGVhRe

It seems like capitol police denial of their involvement is *techically* true, per Politico. But DOJ officials did in fact show up at the Library of Congress office today, confirming Wired’s reporting: www.politico.com/live-updates...
The clash included a brief standoff Monday at the Library of Congress in which Justice Department officials arrived claiming to be newly in charge of the agency, said a person familiar with the interaction. After library officials resisted, the DOJ officials departed without resolving the conflict.

Capitol Police officers were called to the scene but told by library staff that they were were not needed, according to another person, who was also granted anonymity to describe the sensitive matter.

OMG, watching Flight of the Navigator with my 8yo. The first part consists of: 2 kids physically fighting, the parents letting their 8yo hop out of their car and play in the water with randos, a 12yo threaten the darkness with "I've got a gun" and expect their 8yo to walk home at night alone. #80s

Watching Free Guy for the first time, the movie is... passable. I suppose I can say I don't regret spending the time watching it which is above expectations. But I think that my favorite line has to be, "Oh he -found- the button." I couldn't stop the snort-laugh.

Spatial metabolomics of kidney bryanwjones.com/2015/03/well... #SciArt #kidney
This image only exists in computational space and represents a section through the kidney from a mus musculus probed with antibodies to three small molecular labels. Anti-aspartic acid as red, anti-glutathione as green and anti-glutamine as blue. Aspartic acid is a metabolic link between amino acid and energy metabolism while glutathione is important in mechanisms that reduce oxidative damage. Glutamine is a molecular buffer or storehouse for amino acid carbon skeletons for storage and distribution of amino groups to other molecules.

Looking down at the head of a transgenic 17-day-old #zebrafish, blood vessels in magenta, lymphatic vessels in green. Extended depth of focus #WeinsteinLab 🧪🔬
A highly detailed gray image of the dorsal view of a zebrafish head pointing to the left with two large black eyes on either side. A complex network of magenta blood vessels look like tangled spaghetti in the center (brain region) of the image. There are dozens of ameba-shaped green cells around the brain blood vessels and a few well-defined green lymphatic vessels on either side of the head. Protruding from the skin on each side of the head, to the right (posterior) to the eye, there are three volcano-like structures with long, transparent, hair-like projections. These are hair cells that the fish uses to sense changes in water flow.

Gawking. Every page. Mouth agape.
A beautiful painting, with a coloring style that reminds me of Eric Carle in some ways, titled Stichotricha remex on Anacharis alsinastrum. Against a black background, a ghostly white ciliate hovers over alien-looking red tubes. There are about 11 tubes, most of which have a little ghostly ciliate sticking out of the top of them. The tubes are "planted" on a flat green piece that I might assume is a leaf, but I don't know much about water plants. ...or land plants. Or air plants.
