Honest question: do people not care that their emails/pull requests/reviews that they send me are so obviously written with #AI, and that this makes them look lazy? Or do they think this is how people write? Or do they think AI is making things better?

Shells with butter from my stepmother's father (an Italian chef). He used some sort of delicious buttery magic that for me, as a child with a sensitive palate, adored. I have been unable to recreate since my high school graduation party (the last time he made it for me).

SCOOP: Two weeks ago, the head of the CDC delayed publication of a report showing covid vaccine cut likelihood of ER visits and hospitalizations by half. Now that report is no longer allowed to be published in CDC’s flagship scientific journal. My latest. 1/2 www.washingtonpost.com/health/2026/...

CDC won’t publish report showing covid shots cut likelihood of hospital visits
The report, which had cleared the agency’s scientific-review process, had been delayed. It now won’t be published at all, people familiar with the decision told The Post.

I think it's important to continuously reiterate that federal science funding grants in the US (and elsewhere) are made because the government, with the input of panels of independent experts, have concluded that the work being done is IN THE INTEREST OF THE NATION.

I realize that as a retired professor I have a responsibility to say more on this than I have. International students are essential to the fiscal bottom line of almost every university. This is an unambiguous attempt to destroy Harvard—permanently. And he won’t stop with Harvard. This is madness.

Elevating this so that it gets more eyes. This type of grant termination, with no scientific cause or warning, will not only decimate our scientific infrastructure but will have horrific consequences downstream for drug development and subsequently human health.
