Ahhhh, I'm so excited to announce my @steddiebbang.bsky.social project! Team 010! I've been lucky enough to be paired with @sarasmiling.bsky.social as my beta and @rebelwithoutabroom as my artist (you can check out their work on Tumblr)!

Green background with the script: sereinpetrichor, oatmilkandfangs, and rebelwithoutabroom at the top. Illustrated flower in center. Script in center: Fake Dating AU, Steddie | Explicit underneath. Four photographs, from left to right: First - White chairs with flowers behind them, Second - Two men in black tuxedos dancing, we don't see their faces, Three - Looking down the dirt path of a hedge maze, tall green hedges on either side, Four - Two men facing each other, we only see their chest/back, one is in a suit with a bowtie, the other in a plain shirt.

Duffer Brothers confirm that Eddie came back as vampire, made out with Steve sloppy style, attended Dustin’s graduation and killed Principal Higgins later that day. It all happened off screen of course, as most things did in season 5 🙂‍↕️

Alien has a deliberate pace: there’s time to introduce the entire scifi world and explain how the crew travels long distances, it shows everyone’s respective job on the ship and how they go about work and interact, it has long leisurely shots, and then the Alien shit happens and it’s still two hours

it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

I think a lot about this bit by Kazuya Niinou about how an RPG can be one thing on your screen and another thing in your brain

How to use your imagination

When your party stays at the Inn overnight, what do they eat?

If you ever catch yourself wondering that, then you know you've formed an attachment to your characters.

With Etrian Odyssey's characters, you only give them a name and a portrait, so no matter how you think of the character, it's technically just your imagination. But even in that case, without your imagination, the character is nothing.

For example, a landsknecht who uses an axe might eat his meat with his bare hands and no utensils, but one who wields a sword might prefer a knife and fork at dinner. You might think differently, but... If you can imagine small details like that, you might find that you enjoy this kind of RPG even more.

The essence is an RPG is using numbers to make calculated decisions, but if you invest those "numbers" with your own feelings, you can spice up the game a little. Think about this:

In your party of five, three characters are dead. Two of them are alive, but they only have a couple of HP left, and no TP. They're certain to die in their next turn, giving you a game over. Number-wise, those characters are useless, but how do you imagine they feel about that? What kind of people are those 2 characters who are about to die? Try to imagine things like that in the brief time before your game ends.

Are they a landsknecht and a ronin, who'll die facing the enemy and laughing? Is it a protector, ordering the weak medic to run with his last breath?

The game over screen looks the same every time, but in your imagination, it could play out very differently.

The game itself isn't that big of a thing; what you imagine for yourself is much more fun. We hope that the player uses this game as a tool, to create dramatic and fun situations in your own minds.

Manifesting that I don't lose my job tomorrow. That I'm not fired or let go like I fear I will. I'll face the consequences of my actions (coming into work late one too many times, even while still working my full scheduled shift), but I don't want to lose my job because of depression+time blindness
