Montreal is one of my favorite cities in the world, so to be there this spring is a real treat. Join me and hundreds of other creators this spring (May 14-16) on Rue St. Denis (Street) for Montreal Comic Arts Festival! I'll have artworks, silk screen prints, stickers and of course-- comics! ❤️

Onward and upward. I've been a bit quiet lately as I work on my new, self published fantasy series. Stay tuned for sneak peeks and wish me luck!

When I made the hard decision not to go to any American cons for the foreseeable future, I never thought it would get this bad. My heart is with my American friends and fans: I hope things get better.

You know sometimes between jobs I think to myself "what am I even doing? Am I even a worthwhile creator?" Then I end up having to grab some old reel or artwork I did and go down the 15 year rabbit hole of my own work and, have to admit "goddamn I am actually pretty damn skilled."

Generative AI tools do not liberate us, they do the opposite: they’re a tool for conformity. That’s why the fascists love them. They poop out artless dreck, preprogrammed with the biases and prejudices of whoever made them. They are literally and figuratively dehumanizing.

Not sure why I always set myself up for the hardest task possible, but yeah I've got these handmade silkscreen prints I make in my kitchen: they'll be available this weekend. 🫠

Making silkscreen prints at home, out of your garage, is INCREDIBLY labour intensive. Like, it's a seriously bad idea. You wouldn't want to do it with a deadline on top of everything else. So yeah, I'm in my garage and...

applying for jobs again

screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question).

an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question:

"there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask.

it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same.

it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.”

there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price

for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

When you use AI, it uses you. You’re the currency. It might seem free for now, but the costs to the future of human thinking/feeling by way of no longer writing/reading are going to be immense.

to me, “you should create for yourself” and “you deserve to be acknowledged for what you make” are two statements that should coexist. chasing engagement will rot your soul, while being neglected will see your passion wither. loving what you make is a failsafe for when the engagement never comes.

What people don't understand about learning art is that, while it is hard, that marriage of frustration and pride never goes away. Learning to draw a human hand? You'll feel frustration that it's not as good as it could be, and pride and what you managed. Sistine Chapel? Same thing.

Sometimes I abhor famous literary works like 1984 and The Handmaid's Tale, as some governments seem to classify them as handy "how to" guides.
