JULIE KANG: You can’t put more housing in neighborhoods where people already live! They might not like it!
[in front of easel that reads "D5 Smart Growth Plan"] That’s why I’ve identified several sites in District 5 that everyone would be ok with
[gesturing at map] Here’s a nice lot between the tow yard and the hazardous waste transfer station [*actual example]
[pointing at picture of a culvert with brackish water running out of it] Here’s a lovely tract just downhill from the raw sewage sluice!
[picture of a tar pit surrounded by trees with a washing machine, a bike, and various garbage sinking into it] and there’s also the Weeping Tar Bog of Northgate
-All of these places would be *perfect* for renters!

Because it’s kinda buried down in the article, just wanted to highlight a bit that’s short-term more important than the journalism slop / council email harassment aggregator: Nelson’s nonprofit is planning to do $100k of PAC spend against @neighborsfornilu.bsky.social / for her opponent
…. That site took a few hours and about $100 in Al tokens.
CivicTide is a bigger undertaking. Nelson said her organization's budget is $163,000 for July through December, with $55,000 to $65,000 of that going to site development and ongoing Al tokens. The rest covers legal costs and the planned independent expenditure, she said. She isn't paying herself.

Erick Erickson, on the people leading the current conservative movement:

They all embrace racial grievances. To varying degrees, they embrace white nationalism, antisemitism, and even Nazi sympathies. They are getting added to conservative institutional boards, attempting to purge churches, and are desperate to indoctrinate young conservatives into fascist ideology.
