I don’t do drama or tea and I don’t like cats - no, not even yours. I like France, colour, sun, podcasts, language, wit, cities, NYT games, #TheArchers, walking, baking, knitting, dogs, general snark. If I want your advice I’ll ask for it.

Got some lily pollen on the sleeve of my very best, very favourite cashmere jumper. Brushed off what I could, cried a bit, soaked it, washed it - stain was still there when it came out of the machine. Hung it on the rack to dry and today, 3 days later, stain miraculously gone. I’m a believer

"When I was 15, I spent a month working on an archeological dig.
One of the archeologists asked those kinds of 'getting to know you' questions you ask young people: Do you play sports? What's your favorite subject? And I told him, 'No, I don't play any sports. I do theater, I'm in choir, I play the violin and piano, I used to take art classes.' And he went, That's amazing!' And I said, 'But I'm not good at any of them.' And he said something then that I will never forget and which absolutely blew my mind: 'I don't think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you've got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them.' And that honestly changed my life. Because I went from a failure, someone who hadn't been talented enough at anything to excel, to someone who did things because I enjoyed them. I had been raised in such an achievement-oriented environment, so inundated with the myth of talent, that I thought it was only worth doing things if you could 'win' at them."

When I first read about the death penalty as a child, I thought it was barbaric. Still do. A state that gives itself the judicial power to kill debases itself and everyone it involves in that repulsive business.

Why, by Erich Fried

Not you for love's sake
but
love
for your sake
(and also
for mine)
Not because
I must love
but because
I must
love
you
Perhaps
because I am
as I am
but certainly
because you are
as you are

Before I die, I want to be somebody's favorite hiding
place, the place they can put everything they know they need to survive, every secret, every solitude, every nervous prayer, and be absolutely certain I will keep it safe. I will keep it safe.

Me talking about someone I've posted with on the same social media site for a long time but never actually met
Still from the television show What We Do in the Shadows showing Laszlo speaking. Text reads "he's my best friend, he's my pal. He's my homeboy, my rotten soldier. He's my sweet cheese, my good-time boy."

I LOVE my new work MacBook with one exception. Stupid Microsoft Outlook seems to have no means to send to OneNote, which I used almost daily on my Windows laptop. If I want to convert text to Traditional Chinese, it’s got me covered, mind

If the AI techbros had the vaguest connection to their own emotions perhaps they’d understand that a main point of music is the feeling when you realise a sentiment is universal but hell, I’m new to this being in love lark so what do I know

Rather than leave my car at a local station and take the train to St Pancras for the Eurostar I thought I’d look to see how much it would be to park there for the week, at their ‘best rates guaranteed’ prices. £512.
