"Tilley said there’s more research required before the province decides it will move ahead with using photo radar in the province" Really? What more could possibly need researching - consider their impact along high crash roads and school zones

Agree. There isn't much research to do, the photo radars have their desired effect, it's more of a moral/political decision as to whether or not to use them.

Fair Vote Canada 🗳️🍁 @fairvote.ca · 07/10/2026
Poll modeling shows Doug Ford's PCs could win another majority government on just 34% of the vote. First-past-the-post bails out unpopular governments while the rest of us suffer. We need proportional representation so governments always represent a broad majority.
A screenshot of a post by Polling Canada (@CanadianPolling) with the text "PC Majority on these numbers" above a table displaying political party polling projections. The table lists party percentages, projected seats, and seat ranges: Green Party (GRN) at 5%, 2 seats (range 2-2); New Democratic Party (NDP) at 27%, 33 seats (range 27-41); Liberal Party (LIB) at 26%, 20 seats (range 13-29); Progressive Conservative Party (PC) at 34%, 66 seats (range 52-78); and Others (OTH) at 8%, 3 seats (range 2-4). Below the table is a quoted post from Polling Canada detailing Ontario Provincial Polling results and percentage changes from the 2025 election: PCPO at 34% (-9), ONDP at 27% (+8), OLP at 26% (-4), GPO at 5% (-), and Others at 8%. The polling metadata notes Mainstreet, Sept 29, 2026, a sample size of n=1062, a margin of error of 2.8%, and IVR methodology, ending with a link to check out more details on @338Canada.

Most of the word count in this op-ed was consumed by Harper re-hashing grievances with the Trudeau government and its supposedly nefarious intentions for the oil and gas industry -- and, as Jason says, completely misrepresenting the level of support for separatism when he was in office.

On the "Pacific Link" pipeline, the ball is now squarely in the oil and gas industry's court. If the project fails, they won't be able to blame Ottawa for their own refusal to fill it. I suspect that was the prime minister's plan all along. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/10/02/o...

Canada’s pipeline politicking is about to collide with economic reality
The ball for the west coast oil pipeline — sorry, the "Pacific Link" — is now fully in the oil and gas industry's court. One big question remains: are they actually willing to fill it?

The CAP debate was funny because on the one hand it's a bunch of practical and moral arguments about over-charging a small number of people to provide subsidies for some of highest income neighbourhoods on the city and on the other it's basically "my voters like free money, fuck you"

Oh fuck off. It was not a "neutral takedown." This is just pandering to Danielle Smith's Big Lie, and is inventing whole cloth a history of federalism that never existed, and which provinces don't actually want. Stop pretending that this is actually helping combat separatism. It's really not.

Cycling cities evolve through three stages: people must first dare to cycle (safe and reliable), then be able to cycle (quick and convenient), before they are invited to cycle (attractive and joyful). Spending the weekend exploring Budapest by bike, it's clear the city sits in the middle category.🧵

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows a brain. The brain is saying "I'm 30 and YOUNG! I only recently fully developed!"
The second panel shows a heart. The heart says "I hear ya! I can keep going for DECADES more!"
The third panel shows a spine's face. It weakly says, "I am old".
We zoom out and the spine is using a walker. It continues, "so very old".

Excellent questions.
Becky Druhan, MLA Lunenburg West (via facebook)
TL This week, we learned Premier Tim Houston has included the MacKay Bridge among the Nova Scotia projects being pitched to global investors at the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto.
Until last year, Halifax Harbour Bridges operated on a self-funded model: bridge users paid tolls, and that revenue stayed in the system to operate, maintain and ultimately replace the bridges.
Government eliminated the tolls, shifted those costs to taxpayers and dissolved the Bridge Commission.
Now it is looking for private investment.
Private investors aren't charities. They expect a return.
I asked whether the Minister of Public Works Fred Tilley could explain how an investor would get a return without tolls - whether he could name any example of a privately financed bridge in Canada where users don't pay tolls?
The Minister spent his response time commenting on his perception of my emotional state. He did not answer the question.
When I got the floor again, I gave government an example.
The Pont Samuel-De Champlain Bridge in Montréal is toll-free and was delivered through a 34-year, $4.2-billion public-private partnership. The Auditor General found that the private-financing model cost taxpayers $250 million more than traditional financing would have.
That brings us back to the MacKay Bridge.brings us back to the MacKay Bridge.
Private investors do not invest for free. They expect to recover their investment and earn a return.
So Nova Scotians deserve to know:
? Who would ultimately pay the investor - bridge users, taxpayers, or both?
? Was bringing in a private investor the plan all along? If not, when did the Premier decide that private investors should make money from our bridge at Nova Scotia taxpayers' expense?
Minister of Finance John Lohr MLA Kings North rose to speak in response to my supplementary question.
Do you think he answered it?

There’s a still from a video of Becky Druhan talking during Question Period

Macklemore just announced he’s donating the $1 million he made from Sheeran’s tour to 6 organizations to support Palestinians and he’s asking Robert Kraft to match it. This is just the first part announcing it.
With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.
I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.
