WOW. Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, among others, "chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an impeccable record of public service. ... The attacks against Ms. Comans were based entirely on false information" and many officials "knew [they] were untrue."

In conducting this hearing, the Court is not called upon to resolve factual disputes between
the parties. The facts set forth in this Memorandum Opinion and Order were proposed by the
Plaintiff, unobjected to by the Government, and then deemed admitted by the Court. Dkts. 74, 75,
77.2 These facts establish that high-ranking government officials, including then Secretary of DHS
Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, engaged in a coordinated public relations campaign to impugn the
personal and professional integrity of Ms. Comans. For reasons unfathomable to this Court,
officials chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an
impeccable record of public service. In short, Ms. Comans was professionally targeted and
personally attacked by government officials for no legitimate reason. The attacks against Ms.
Comans were based entirely on false information, and many government officials knew the
accusations were untrue at the time they were made. With no regard for the truth and with no
consideration for the personal and professional effect on Ms. Comans, government officials
exploited their access to mass media outlets to broadcast false information. These false
statements reached hundreds of millions of people. The purpose of this Order is, to the best of
this Court’s ability, to correct the public record and establish as a matter of law that the
statements made by these officials about Ms. Comans were objectively and demonstrably false.

Area in Tribeca 1983 Jean-Michel Basquiat was often there as a DJ

four years, one address in downtown Manhattan became the center of New York's creative universe.

When Area opened in Tribeca in 1983, it was a place where fashion, art and music collided. Created by four young founders with backgrounds in architecture, design and art, the club rejected the idea that nightlife had to stay the same. Every five to six weeks, the entire interior was transformed around a new theme. One month guests stepped into a surreal suburban neighborhood, the next into a natural history museum, an underwater world or a futuristic dreamscape. No two visits were ever alike.

It quickly became the city's most exciting meeting place for creative minds. Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Madonna, Grace Jones, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Marc Jacobs and countless artists, photographers, designers and musicians all passed through its doors.
But unlike many legendary clubs, people didn't come to Area just to see who was inside, they came to experience what the club had become.

Invitations arrived as miniature artworks, from capsules to communion wafers and eggs. Installations, live performances and theatrical sets surrounded the dance floor, making every night feel like the opening of a new exhibition. There was no clear line between artist and guest, performer and audience. Everyone became part of the experience.

Area closed in 1987 after only four years, but its influence never disappeared. Long before immersive exhibitions, experiential retail and concept-driven nightlife became commonplace, Area had already imagined a world where a club could function as a living work of art. It wasn't just the place to be, it was the place that reinterpreted what nightlife could look like.
