He’s already been working on getting legal aid through the proper channels, but he has a hearing coming up this Friday and he’s running out of time. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. We’ve exhausted the self-help resources available.

#LawSky friends - does anyone in WA have some family law expertise they would be willing to donate or provide at low cost to a friend? His ex - a law student - is railroading him in court, and he needs a rescue. I can discuss some details. @kathryntewson.bsky.social @questauthority.bsky.social

With regards to beef prices, have you ever tried a veggie burger?
They're actually really good. A little lettuce, tomato, pickles, a portobello mushroom, slice of Swiss cheese. Excellent.

The thing I miss most about living in Texas is the barbecue. Up here in Washington, decent barbecue is almost unknown.

BBQ (smoked brisket, sauce) is close to a religion in Texas. In that it is contentious, very profitable & marked by bloody schisms. Edgar Black started selling BBQ from his butcher shop in Lockhart, TX around 1934. It quickly rose to fame, drawing visitors to the small town in Central Texas.
A photo of Edgar Black Sr. sitting on a pile or wood, possibly mesquite. In spite of the name, he's a very white dude holding a normal hat.

In fact, much of her fortune was *specifically* how hard she tried not to become a billionaire. Dolly lived a supremely comfortable life by anyone’s standards, but nobody cared because she spent much more of her money enriching others. Wealth is not a zero-sum game.

She also really debunks the common justifications about religion, region, and age. Your grandparents and parents have shitty values because they have shitty values, not because of anything else. They could do better. Anyone can use their eyes to see the world and have the correct read.

Everyone was someone to Dolly, and she put every person at the same level. To her, fame and fortune were a gift, and whatever she didn’t need she shared. She taught us how to be polite, honest, and powerful at the same time. A legend has left the world.

bsky isnt ready for this but, if you need a reason to not use words like "clanker" that isn't "well its kinda not a great thing to do" (it isn't) imagine this:

future model that has you in its training data, knows you posted that word online with joy, and denies your insurance claim as a result

I feel like this must have been done at some point, response poems are a storied tradition, but anyway I wrote "Margaret, Bringing Fresh Flowers" today and thought I'd share
Uncle Gerard, do you remember how,
when I was a kid, you found me crying
and I told you it didn't seem fair how all the nice leaves
had to die in the winter when I loved them so much;
and you told me, well, it gets worse from here,
and besides, it's not really the leaves,
you're a smart kid, they'll be back next spring,
but in the meantime you're right of course,
all kinds of things are going to die
and die and die and die and die and die,
your whole life, and it doesn't get easier,
it gets harder, because eventually you realize
all those dead hands go down pointing a finger at you,
and that's actually why you're sad, see,
because in a sense you're next,
even if it takes a while for next to get here?
And do you remember
how I said, Jesus Uncle Gerry,
can't a person be sad for a tree sometimes,
just sad about a tree?
Well, anyway,
you were probably right,
and you know this already,
because I tell you this every time I come here
but I suspect it's harder to remember things
where you are now
so I'm telling you again,
just in case.

I want to draw this point out a bit. If you go to the link you'll find the video of Grossman teaching a room full of cops how good it is to have sex after you've shot someone in the line of duty. There's no way Grossman would know as he's never shot anyone under any circumstance. 1/

This of course gets at one of the major problems of US policing: far too much of American law enforcement no longer tries to deescalate, rather they immediately escalate up the use of force. One of the primary drivers of this is the BS taught by Dave Grossman. 5/

My husband just recently got on clobazam as a replacement for his clonazepam to treat his seizures and anxiety because it’s longer-lasting and isn’t as prone to abuse. Every other doctor tried taking him off benzos, even though nothing else has worked for his seizures.

The thing is, he takes buprenorphine mostly for pain management. He didn’t even ask for opioids. In fact, he specifically asked for toradol and tizanadine, neither of which is a controlled substance. They still treated him as if he were drug-seeking simply because he knew what to do.

My husband has chronic spinal pain due to a car accident and (separate injury) a fractured and dislocated tailbone. We went to the ER because his back started spasming, and they refused to treat him because he has a buprenorphine prescription and therefore was just “drug seeking”.

Ryan Egesdahl @ryan.deriamis.net · 07/08/2026
That he’d never heard of clonazepam being prescribed for seizures. It was the main medication given for seizures for many years until other medications came on the market. And no, he wasn’t too young to know this.

Nobody knows. We can construct a sequence of cardinal numbers for the increasing sizes of the infinite sets, but we can only prove a least upper bound on the sequence of cardinals.
