Sensing endoplasmic reticulum redox state by ethylene receptors
Ethylene receptors function as ER redox sensors. Redox-dependent disulfide bond dynamics modulate receptor stability and activity, thereby tuning ethylene signaling for environmental adaptation. ER redox sensing may represent an ancestral receptor function that predates substantial ethylene biosynthesis.
