On this day of labor remember: when they tell you (and they will tell you) that Covid is not a labor issue, ask them if people catch Covid at work, ask them if people have to work while sick, and when they say yes, tell them that’s why Covid is a labor issue.

According to the news the Ebola outbreak has now exceeded 1,000 cases in Congo, and on a related note according to a Lancet study the aid cuts (championed by the man who is why the number of trillionaires has exceeded zero) will result in 14 million deaths by 2030.

I’ve heard it said that it takes around 17 years in order for health findings to truly impact mainstream practices, which I suppose means we’re just another 10 years away from people realizing they should really try to avoid catching Covid repeatedly.

My mother who has Alzheimer’s is in a care home nursing ward in the UK. Her predominantly immigrant carers are wonderful, gentle, kind, and humane people who treat her with dignity and respect. They are short-staffed, under-paid, work long shifts. They also support my Dad who visits daily.
