Just finished reading "The Long Way To a Small Angry Planet" and quite enjoyed it! Definitely scratched that Mass Effect-like ragtag space crew adventures itch. Good space friends.

Starkly designed front & back sketch cover. Azrael drawn in bold black brushstrokes against a vivid red background with his blades popping in pure white. Drawn by PvZ artist Ron Chan. Quick doodle of The Cleric and Snell from Esoteric Ebb! Just wrapped up playing it and really dug it! Recommended if you want something that takes the framework of Disco Elysium, but does its own thing with it. Feels familiar, yet fresh!

Greyscale sketch of a goblin and a cleric seen from below as they hunch over some debris. The cleric picks up a strand that seems to be disintegrating, and the goblin looks at him with some concern.

Being a cartoonist sometimes implies taking time off your graphic novel just so you can draw something else for once. Retro sci-fi/cassette futurism, especially of the anime kind, is very nostalgic to me.

An illustration all in purples and yellows. A woman in mechanic attire is sitting inside a capsule-style bedroom, lit by the sun through a small window. She's having dumplings. The setting is retro sci-fi or cassette futurism, with lots of pipes and analog screens decorating the surroundings. The illustration is very cluttered visually.

Looked at this All About Eve piece again today and decided it works better with a few tweaks! Some minor color adjusting, but mostly Margo melds into Eve's silhouette more naturally with the chin overlapping, I think! Also, the one thumb was distracting lol

digital color art of two blonde women in dark dresses juxtaposed such that one woman, Eve (looking at us, smiling) appears like she is "trying on" the other blonde woman, Margo (back facing us). Eve is stretching the shoulders of Margo's dress so that it reaches up to her own. Text over the bottom of the dress silhouette reads All About Eve in hand-written text.

Ink, marker, and watercolor commission I did for @zackdavisson.com of Mizuki and Shion from the Overwatch story we did together a while back! Don't tell Blizzard I drew this bloody part of Mizuki's past in unofficial art lmao 😝

Scan of artwork showing Mizuki as a child clutching his lucky cat, as an older teen clutching his bloody shoulder where his arm has been amputated, and as an adult the way we see him in game. A design element of green paper talismans swirl around them, and a portrait of Shion rendered in only red floats behind.

Cover art for Facing Demons, the comic we did. Mizuki stands with his back facing us, holding his weapon to the side. A neon city fills the background and an image of Shion looms above in the sky.

Color sketch of Tendi from Star Trek Lower Decks, drawn in a more realistic but still cartooned style than the show. She's a real cutie pie and smiles sheepishly.

Black and white sketch portraits of Jean Luc Picard, Beverly Crusher, and William Riker

Color sketch of Kira and Odo from Deep Space Nine cuddling. Kira sits on a bench with her arms wrapped around Odo, who nuzzles his head under her chin while the rest of his body turns to goo.

Color art of Seven of Nine and Captain Janeway from Star Trek Voyager. They stand in a lift together, Seven looking forward with a blank doofy expression while Janeway side-eyes her with a smile.

I try to avoid vert stacking on the left, but sometimes it just feels right. Using word balloons to help direct the eyes as Nate has shown is a great way to make it work. Another way is to create a purposeful "set" out of your left stack via distinct panels and/or staggering gutter width/position:

Excerpt from a comic I'm working on. On the left, we see two close-up panels of men making eye contact. The gutter between these two panels is slightly diagonal, and the distance between the two panels and the one on their right is larger than normal, giving them separation.

Another comic excerpt. On the left, we see three close up panels of items in a grocery store. They form a distict grouping of panels, with the following panel on the right separated by a wider gutter, as well as having the top of the panel slightly lower on the page.

Excerpt from a different comic. Similar setup to previous example. The left stack of panels is both slightly higher on the page than the right one, and also a wider gutter separates them vertically.
