By so many fundamental HCI principles, chatbot LLMs are simply bad software. But the magic trick of plausible information extrusion makes it an exception somehow. (Not that major tech companies haven’t been ignoring a ton of those fundamentals for years anyway… but still)

When I teach in Michigan, I sometimes stay in Ypsi and just commute to A2 because it's a lot cheaper that way. Using public transit in a car-centric place (Michigan) is fascinating, I haven't relied on a bus to get anywhere since I was in high school. In PDX w/a car I only using transit sparingly

Very rad day of testing something interesting: using atproto for social services. Data sharing between agencies is notoriously messy. atproto can sit underneath as an identity layer that travels with the person across jurisdictions. Demo spec still baking, hope to share soon.

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone. Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.

I think execs and engineers should be criminally liable when they carelessly set up self-reinforcing software services that somehow execute cyberattacks, like everyone else who executes cyberattacks. If you cannot reliably control the behavior of your software environment then just don't set it up.
