My first read is that like many other NDS websites the real functionality is ‘coming soon’ - I tested a VA disability claim and it directs me to the VA site. It claims to be able to do that in 2027 but that’s a significantly heavier lift than building an LLM wrapper.

DOGE couldn’t make their own website infrastructure so they stole it. The irony is that for this repo the code is the just the last mile outcome of working with people to understand their needs. This team did the hard work for years. I don’t think DOGE even understands the assignment.

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone. Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.
