Why is street parking at a meter still such a harrowing experience? Why do we have to be so worried about going over the maximum time limit you can set? Can we not develop a meter that senses how long you are parked and just charges you for that exact amount of time, no matter how long?

remoulded, and back in the shop, our Glaswegian phonebox there was one of these outside my workshop in Chatham Historic Dockyard so you can bet i took accurate measurements and made this a *proper* scale model. it might look smaller than some versions but it's very much bigger on the inside

After a long hiatus, our group reconvened to play more Pulp Cthulhu today. The lesson learned: Flying Polyps are kind of pushovers, assuming you successfully sneak up on them and open up with a 3” trench mortar, fully auto Lewis LMG, a .450 elephant rifle, and a dozen .303 Lee-Enfields

I wonder if people who have aphantasia (the inability to visualize mental images) are more likely to be generative AI users. A common reason for using it seems to be as a method of visualizing something they have in their head, and most users seem to be happy with flawed “close enough” AI renders

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Lou Zocchi. He was a real titan in many gaming circles, most notably by shaping how the Star Trek TOS ships would be represented in games for decades and for his rigorously designed Gamescience dice. He will be sorely missed.

Disney revealed the new Han and Leia actors for Galaxy’s Edge and wow, people are absolutely brutal in their comments. Some folks won’t be satisfied with anything less than Ford and Fisher clones grown from their preserved DNA. That said, Disney should splurge for better wigs for face characters.

Anyway I'll finish for the mo 'cos I'm parched and full of gut-grumbles, back with more later or tomorrow, but not without a last note for now on the first round of wreckery - ripping out this lovely scene, assisted by @fenrisgames.com scenic bits, of Stormtroopers spoiling a sacred springwell:

a sacred springwell site on the Naboo side of the scene, with two toy Stormtroopers doing their best to despoil it; one of them is dabbling his mucky boots in the water, while the other has a long pipe descending into the springwell that is either drinking up the waters for use on their ship, or worse yet is being used to dump who knows what kind of unpleasant effluents into the well. The scene is otherwise lovelied up though by some slightly adapted scenic pieces from Fenris Games - some columns topped by ornamental dragon heads, and some stonework around the well along with a pair of sacred or sacrificial bowls.

the same site, after 'surgery' - the columns and dragon heads etc. have all been drilled out, hopefully to be re-used elsewhere at a later date on a different model. The remaining site is a dusty mess of a thing, who knows how it's going to end.
