This is just further proof of the bent nature of the sponsorships. No regular sponsor would threaten to sue the Prem for the reputational damage of a report they arent even named in. They would just cut ties with the club www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Seeing a few ex-pro footballers saying they feel sorry for City players. They chose to play for a nation state. They chose to go to City - with a salary that likely dwarfed other offers and didn't wonder how it was possible. This has been in the public domain for years. They turned a blind eye.

The RNLI rescued Luftwaffe pilots in WW2 because the organisation is there to 'save life at sea' - it's something to be immensely proud of. But as I've said many times before Farage and Co don't seem to have pride in Britain and its institutions beyond flags and crap Enoch Powell said 60 years ago.

The warnings about how awful Britain is for rich people would sound a little better not coming from a betting shop owner and Jim bloody Ratcliffe. Their argument has the least sympathetic spokespeople imaginable.

On the CCC Heathrow advice. Firstly, it is good advice but narrowish lens of UK carbon budgets is key to understanding it. Also, the people behind it at the CCC are truly expert, and excellent. At the very least Government should implement the advice in full if it greenlights Heathrow expansion.

We need deeper,
faster and wider

now more than ever,
as well as major
improvements in
climate resilience.Every fraction of a

The newspapers really should reflect on this. That front pages of their papers can be bought for small numbers of £1000s should really trouble them and make them much more thoughtful about how they report polling. It wont. But it should.

This feels like something the state could improve, at low cost, but social services are already so overstretched: www.theguardian.com/society/2026... The cliff-edge post-18 is arbitrary and should change. There should be some level of consistent transition support.

I mean, it's easy to imagine how we could have a cheaper energy system if nuclear power plants were inexpensive to build, gas prices were guaranteed to fall sharply and stay low for decades, and climate change was nothing to worry about, but it would still be imaginary.
