One of the guiding principles is that organistions treat your information with care and privacy, and do not share it with other entities without your permission*. Companies lay this out in their privacy statement, usually found on their website. *except under very specific circumstances

If you (or someone you know) suspects personal data has been mishandled, and contact details have been shared without consent, you have the right to submit a DSAR - a data subject access request - to the relevant organisation to find out what information they hold on you.

Time to share our new logo After a decade of celebrating North East beer, we thought we should give things a bit of a refresh. Many thanks to Rob MacKay for being an awesome designer to work with!
The new Craft Beer Newcastle logo - a white minimalist logo on a Tyne Bridge green background.

The logo features a stylised depiction of the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle. Above the bridge arch, the words "CRAFT BEER" are written in Calvert typeface, and the word "NEWCASTLE" is centered directly below the arch in a straight line.

Flanking the bridge on both sides where the bridge piers would be are symmetrical icons of barley stalks.

Here’s a story for Bluesky and thanks to @hazelsouthwell.bsky.social please attend her pride in solidarity tonight! Or RT
Pride still triggers homophobic pub goers
When Hazel Southwell took over the Royal Oak pub in Erith, south-east London, last December she feared the locals would shun a gay woman with Georgian heritage as she thought it was a Reform heartland.
The regulars surprised her, confrontations were rare and she secured a 400K in funds
for a renovation to change the decor and
60-year-old carpet. But when Hazel had to bar one drinker for posting online hate about a Pride party at the Oak, the bigot organised a boycott of the London pub.
Hazel then feared she would lose her job because of the drop in takings.
"It was difficult to secure the huge amount of funding to be spent on the pub," Hazel says. "It's a shame people have to spoil it by willing me to fail. Before this it was heartwarming that there was such good integration with LGTBQ+ [people], with everyone playing darts."But the news of bigots trying to spoil this diversity sparked a huge amount of solidarity in the LGBTQ+ community and its allies with Hazel hoping that people all over London travel to Saturday's Pride event.
"The whole point of Pride is that people can celebrate themselves and feel good about themselves," said a member of the Oak's bar staff. "It's a show against bullies and people who'd rather not understand. It's the first time we've done this here and it's really important for everyone who feels like they ought to keep quiet or to live as someone else because of where they are living."
Most drinkers at the Oak are happy to show solidarity. "I'm really excited for it," a regular customer said, "it's not been done here and I hope it'll bring new people in. This pub's been waiting for a breath of life for donkey's years and you can't resuscitate it by doing the same things every week.
"Plus it'll be a proper party, what's to complain about?"Pride Party Royal Oak Edith at 8pmHazel Southwell

Anakin is depicted as Magic Rock Cannonball he says: Cannonball is an India Pale Ale in the true tradition, massively hopped to survive a long sea voyage

Padmé Amidala replies: ‘A voyage to where?’

Anakin: silence

Padmé Amidala: ‘To where?’"I remember when I was getting my OBE. Just before my mother passed away. I told her there are people saying whether I should go to Buckingham Palace and take it. She said, 'We are of slave descent. People gave us nothing. Why should you not take it—you made the

Nominated ‘best managed pub company’ despite this open letter in April 2024 www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2025...
Dear BrewDog,
In the past weeks, we have been given a platform to tell our stories anonymously and now we can reveal that the unnamed pub (in the link below) is BrewDog Waterloo.
We are the workers who have endured such a horrific time by management and the poor practices they have forced upon us.
Most people until now will have been previously unaware of our plight and they will now be shocked by how far removed it is compared to the PR gloss pushed by BrewDog's corporate team on Linkedin and on Twitter.
To come forward in this way took a lot of bravery as we feel that management has instilled a culture of fear in our workplace especially when we attempt to fix some of the disgraceful practices that put us and our customers at risk.
The BBC Disclosure documentary in 2022 unearthed systemic examples of poor practices. We feel that our accounts at BrewDog Waterloo show that not only has the company not taken any reforms but the situation has become worse, with a profits and growth model followed at the cost of our mental and physical health.
Our accounts are totally at odds with the steps that James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, said would be made in 2021 by the company after 61 former BrewDog workers said "growth, at all costs, has always been perceived as the number one focus for the company. Being treated like a human being was sadly not always a given for those working at BrewDog."
Instead, we are united in our message that we are being mistreated because of the way BrewDog values profits over people.

Being treated like a human being was sadly not always a given for those working at BrewDog."
Instead, we are united in our message that we are being mistreated because of the way BrewDog values profits over people.
BrewDog Waterloo was meant to be a new start when it opened in August 2022 but instead trusting its management with a new pub - said to be the largest in theWe have had to work in unsafe conditions and until recently there has never been anyone monitoring door numbers at the pub. On numerous occasions managers have told us that the building is "hundreds over capacity" and these dangerous conditions involve young children, many of whom have been injured by the freedom they have been given late at night in what should be an adult space. We begged management for more fire training, fire marshals and first aid equipment and were continually ignored.
We have had to tolerate managers who boast about employing homeless people to collect glasses in exchange for inedible food - a charge management yet again ignored, which emails show. And we have had to work in an environment so toxic many of us have cried in the workplace or suffered mental health issues, due to the trauma.
The profits before people business model has seen us forced by management into selling beer towers to intoxicated customers at 11pm. This is not only dangerous but creates a situation where customers refuse to leave and we work late in an unsafe environment. We have had to call the police on numerous occasions when management has forced us to serve customers who should be refused alcohol.
Aside from our safety, this shows the management is not a responsible licensee and we should not be pushing irresponsible drinks promotions to intoxicated customers.
We also have urged management to put in place a curfew for families, but instead intoxicated customers are often in the presence of young children.
The list of poor practices goes on and on. In fact, there are too many to list here.
When the pub first opened, we were given perks such as free drinks and meals, and free merchandise to wear, but these benefits started to be taken from us. We endured our breaks being cut, and were forced to work extra shifts when we were exhausted at busy periods, such as Christmas and during the World Cup.We clung on because we were paid the living wage and living in London in 2024 is hugely expensive. Now the only perk that made working at BrewDog Waterloo bearable has been taken away from us despite management telling us regularly that we've had record-breaking months. Asking for this measure to be reinstated is not a demand but something we feel would only be just because of the work we do, and the conditions we work in.
As well as having the living wage reinstated it is just too that you enact the reforms you pledged in June 2021. There should be an anonymous - and crucially - independent bullying helpline, and major retraining of all managers.
James, we know this is your favourite pub as you visit it most weeks. Is there any chance you could make the situation more equitable by acknowledging our plight?
We urge people to RT this and the article below in solidarity with the workers of BrewDog Waterloo by using the #WithoutUsWeAreNothing hashtag.
