Watching how people talk about Christa Pike, seeing how white womanhood casts innocence over a person, when INNOCENT Black men are executed, and no one connects these things.

Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

Do not carry a cold beverage in their presence. Politely decline any drinks or sweetmeats they may offer. Keep a plain iron nail in your left trouser pocket and a sachet or paper twist of coarse salt in your right shoe. Enter and leave your chair moving clockwise. Follow up with a thank-you note.

This is because this is what patriarchal binaryism does, is that it holds two genders in opposite oppositional positioning to each other. If manhood is strength then womanhood is weakness.

If your goal is solely the protection of trans women, not including other trans people, then you can just talk about the issues that trans women face. But what you find instead is a knee jerk reaction to minimize the oppression of transmasculinity.

Sometimes a politician just has terrible and/or inconsistent beliefs. The question you should be asking yourself is why you have to come up with complicated and bizarre plots of conspiracy without the politician showing any indication of any of it.

I didn't realize how expensive food had gotten in the US until I went to Europe and kept getting shocked about the prices being lower. Which yes, I know it varies by country.

the only threats "AI" poses to society are when people put it in charge of things that require thought, or crash the economy over it, or destroy the environment to power it. but it's people doing all of those things. AI poses zero threat by itself as it cannot do anything due to not existing

"When Democrats today triangulate on transgender rights, they are offering us a slower pace of decline. And they are doing so in the face of a conservative movement that has no interest in compromise of any sort."

Notice that I am highlighting transphobic vs allyship BEHAVIORS. Because individual people and individual organizations can be one, the other, or both.

Someone who is themselves too online, who manipulates intra communal discord like it's his only job, is not the person to listen to about trans people being too online.

the trans moral panic pushed by the NYT and Atlantic is about transphobia, obviously, but it's also about older wealthy readers believing that as adults they have the right to control their children's identities and futures.

For many years I wondered, "how bad will Republicans have to get before the media/political establishment in the US gets over its endless obsession with scolding & tone policing the left?" I think at this point we have to acknowledge that the answer is: never. Literally never.

But, I think it's also important to understand the dual purpose behind creating documents like this. Because, if you focus on just the anti-trans intent and the shoddiness of the work, you might lose track of this: Conservatives don't believe in social science.

The priority of the "trans man in women's bathroom argument" is upholding the patriarchal framing of "women and children" which always is about the good men protecting the precious/vulnerable/owned from the bad "men" (who may not be men at all).

River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
One of the biggest issues with how we talk about trans rights is that most of the time we can't conceive of things outside of patriarchal framing.

Anytime anyone says, because of the women and children, it's most often not because of the women and children, but they just can't admit the real reason, often not even to themselves.

I just watched Out of Africa, and that was an interesting experience. It is a good example of white washing racism with women's empowerment. Gone with the Wind is another example, albeit lighter on the empowerment aspect.

"cis feminism" is what I use much like "white feminism", in that it seeks the empowerment of womanhood against the patriarchy through exclusivity.

Misogyny is a thing hurled at trans people to erase our existence. It's done broadly speaking, to all trans people, because it is the parlor trick of the patriarchy to warp feminist thinking for its own purposes.

The problem with cis men is that they would rather bash manhood than actually do something to make it better, like say, support transmasculine people, or any kind of marginalized masculinity.

Gender is when cis woman. And until we break that hold that cis women have over discussing gender, trans people aren't getting anywhere. (Except when we talk about trans people as if they are cis women)

Listening to a podcast about JD Vance's book on converting to Catholicism-cis woman feminist says let's talk about gender and I'm like, yes, let's talk about JD Vance's gender because SOMEthing is going on there, but no of course, she wants to talk about a cis woman.

It's probably worth noting that when trans mascs post gender theory that you think is doing some rhetorical gymnastics and you decide you can cut through it with "dictionary definitions", it's because they aren't allowed to touch the load bearing pillar of society "gender is when woman".

People will tell you that this means I hate white cis women, which isn't the case. Nor am I in any way discounting misogyny or the oppression of women, the audience I speak to here are people already aligned against the patriarchy and not anyone who has no knowledge or no sympathy of feminism.

The politics of resentment works every group, you are never immune from it because of oppression you face. White cis women, the group who most benefited from DEI are front and center of the attack on trans women in sports.

In some ways Blue Sky amped up the horribleness of Twitter. People angrily yelling out things drives engagement, and when it's not coded to show up in your feed, the people who depend on that rage engagement then flood their feed for the same effect.
