But this is also the dynamic of how a lot of trans guys get trapped in abusive situations where they are socially controlled and isolated from community so that they are dependent on someone else for their safety (feeling very shameful and unmanly)

These sorts of guys don't generally have such reservations about throwing emasculation at other transmascs though.

But I also get how desperate they are for any small drop acknowledgement, no matter how poison pilled, and I can't bring myself to infantilize them as they have been all their life.

I don't ever actually say this to anyone directly, even though they are throwing us all under the bus and I am enraged about how their self absorption derails our rights.

If they actually saw you as a cis guy, they wouldn't make you sing and dance about your "privilege" for inclusion. (The hint here, is that privilege is given --despite-- not performing)

There is no retrospective respect for being their attack dog and getting destroyed in the process. And they'll make sure you know that when you are no longer of use to them, that they never really saw you as a guy.

These are the guys that throw everyone else under the bus for that little bit of a euphoria petting. Never forget that this is not respect like a cis man might get.

Every time some trans guy starts to pass and goes, "I now have to make sure girls aren't scared of me".....I want to say, "oh who's the big scary man, who's such a big boy".

I know what I lost by transitioning and I have to exist in a world full of people who desire to force unacknowledgment.

I don't believe in the death penalty generally, but I am not moved to sympathy by Christa Pike's situation, this is exactly the sort of situation I fear the most. I see how others care more about her than the trans guy who was just gunned down.

River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Watching how people talk about Christa Pike, seeing how white womanhood casts innocence over a person, when INNOCENT Black men are executed, and no one connects these things.

Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

Do not carry a cold beverage in their presence. Politely decline any drinks or sweetmeats they may offer. Keep a plain iron nail in your left trouser pocket and a sachet or paper twist of coarse salt in your right shoe. Enter and leave your chair moving clockwise. Follow up with a thank-you note.

This is so feared that it is made to not exist and so we get transmasculine erasure. Because nothing exposes the patriarchy more than the truth that manhood is vulnerability, and that the patriarchy is the abuser.
051
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
There is nothing the patriarchy fears more than power that is manhood, not being under its control, that a "woman" could have the "power" of being man.
151
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Another truth: that women have power. The patriarchy fears a powerful womanhood, because it cannot understand power as anything other than oppositional and limited, it must therefore be taking away power from men.
140
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
If we understood men as being vulnerable to the patriarchy, then they might turn against the patriarchy itself instead of the people who have no power.
130
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
This system hides two truths: that men are vulnerable (even white cis men) to the patriarchy that uses and abuses them. All your knee jerk reactions about transmasculinity is learned behavior to protect systems of power.
150
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
The gaslighting that transmasculine people are put through is designed to uphold systems of patriarchal power where manhood must equal power and womanhood must equal vulnerability.
161
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
If a transmasc is weak (ie, experiences oppression), they must be a woman. If they are a man or masculine, then they cannot experience oppression, because power is what the patriarchy defines as what manhood is.
140
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
If trans women are oppressed, then trans men must be the oppressors. This is patriarchal logic that is based on cisness, that transness is an aberration of the natural and pure.
140
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
This is because this is what patriarchal binaryism does, is that it holds two genders in opposite oppositional positioning to each other. If manhood is strength then womanhood is weakness.
160
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
If your goal is solely the protection of trans women, not including other trans people, then you can just talk about the issues that trans women face. But what you find instead is a knee jerk reaction to minimize the oppression of transmasculinity.

"Why is this person doing this it doesn't make sense!" Makes sense if you accept that they are actually acting on their beliefs. Twisting yourself into knots is about not wanting to believe what they are telling you directly is true.

Sometimes a politician just has terrible and/or inconsistent beliefs. The question you should be asking yourself is why you have to come up with complicated and bizarre plots of conspiracy without the politician showing any indication of any of it.

I didn't realize how expensive food had gotten in the US until I went to Europe and kept getting shocked about the prices being lower. Which yes, I know it varies by country.

the only threats "AI" poses to society are when people put it in charge of things that require thought, or crash the economy over it, or destroy the environment to power it. but it's people doing all of those things. AI poses zero threat by itself as it cannot do anything due to not existing

"When Democrats today triangulate on transgender rights, they are offering us a slower pace of decline. And they are doing so in the face of a conservative movement that has no interest in compromise of any sort."

It is a distraction because transphobia is the default, anything else requires work. No one is immune from participating in transphobia.
010
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Arguing about whether so and so is transphobic or not means that their behavior becomes untouchable, which is why this is a well used tactic.
120
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
It is a distraction because we live in a transphobic society, it is all around us and trans people are not immune and most intra trans community flighting is based on transphobia as well.
110
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
People will argue with you about whether an individual or an organization is transphobic or not and that is a distracting tactic. It is besides the point because you can be both, and allyship does not excuse transphobia.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Notice that I am highlighting transphobic vs allyship BEHAVIORS. Because individual people and individual organizations can be one, the other, or both.

For example: Talking to Democratic candidates about the importance of including trans people in our community and holding that as a core principle. That is being an ally.
001
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
For example: it is trans people's fault that Democrats lose because they are too online is transphobic because it blames trans people for their own oppression, being pushed out of community.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
This is how you can tell the transphobic take on "too online" from the supportive one. Simply put, is it only to place blame on a marginalized person, or to engage with power to make their lives better?
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Trans people being "too online" is a large driver of the panic about phones in schools and children on the internet.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Are trans people "too online" because they are pushed out of their own families and communities? Yes probably. But note how the reaction here is blame and not sympathy.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Someone who is themselves too online, who manipulates intra communal discord like it's his only job, is not the person to listen to about trans people being too online.

I generally try to tell people the reality of leaving, but it's really complicated.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Absolutely there is an issue with people thinking that leaving is easy or simple. I know a lot of people in the US that have a lot of misconceptions about asylum. The situation in Europe is not good and getting worse and it's changed right under our feet as we were making plans.

What enrages me are people who have not had to go through the nightmare I have had, portraying me as the privileged one. The very same people who like to promote the lie of transmasculine privilege.
111
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Leaving for me cannot be summed up as because of privilege, because I'd I had been as privileged as they assume, staying would have been more of a possibility. Although it does require a certain convergence of events that is not common.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
In other words, people will say, you should have stayed, even though my staying actually is the worse situation overall for everyone.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
This was a cost I would have had to carry regardless, but I know that this cost people believe I deserve to bear, and I don't deserve happiness and that any happiness I have is because I derelict my duty to suffering.
100
River doesn't know what to say @riverraven.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
But even still, before you get too envious, the cost for me has been tremendous and is something I still carry, as does my family.
