In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

One of the knock-on benefits of Universal Basic income, would be that people would not need to waste time on forms, and could use that time for projects, growing vegetables and many many more things.
"Being poor is actually a full-time job & being
broke is like a full-time job with the amount of
paperwork and the time going from office to
office proving what you have done.

With Universal Basic Income all that would
be eliminated with the time liberated to do
something socially productive."

“Jazz Dancers” by Aldonia R. Bailey (American) - Acrylic on canvas / Possibly 1974 - San Bernardino County Museum (Redlands, California) #WomenInArt #AldoniaBailey #Bailey #BlackArt #AfricanAmericanArt #JazzArt #DanceInArt #BlackRenaissance #art #artText #arte #WomensArt #WomanArtist #WomenArtists
American artist Aldonia Bailey described “Jazz Dancers” as showing dancers “swaying to the music” while people enjoy jazz in Central Park. Rather than isolate a single performer, she makes collective movement the painting’s subject as six women seem linked by an invisible beat, their repeating postures carrying the eye across the canvas like notes in a melodic line. Bailey’s saturated color, simplified forms, and energetic brushwork privilege atmosphere and memory over strict realism.

The six Black women sweep diagonally across a vivid green lawn, their bodies leaning backward and sideways as though caught in the same musical phrase. Bailey dresses them in long, brilliantly patterned pink, blue, yellow-green, orange, and deep red skirts paired with pale sleeveless tops, jewelry, and hair ornaments. Their elongated poses turn movement into rhythm so arms bend, shoulders tilt, and skirts flare as the dancers sway together. Behind them, small pavilions painted in pink, blue, and white punctuate a park filled with loosely rendered figures. Tall palms and dense trees frame a glowing yellow-orange sky, giving the scene the warmth and bustle of an outdoor summer festival.

This is jazz experienced through motion, community, and pleasure. The work also participates in a long tradition of Black artists representing music and dance as spaces of creativity, social connection, and cultural continuity. Bailey, a Louisiana-born artist long active in Southern California, has repeatedly returned to jazz, dancers, family, and Black everyday life throughout her practice. Her inscription appears to date the painting to 1974, which would make it an unusually early work in her career. The painting appeared in the San Bernardino County Museum’s 2026 exhibition Black Renaissance, where its exuberant celebration of Black music, movement, and communal life resonated with the exhibition’s dialogue between the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance and contemporary Black creativity.

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

The same two images of a snake covered gate side by side with the text: Sanhedrin 75a: There was an incident involving a certain man who set his eyes upon a certain woman and passion rose in his heart, to the point that he became deathly ill. And they came and asked doctors what was to be done with him. And the doctors said: He will have no cure until she engages in sexual intercourse with him. The Sages said:
Let him die, and she may not engage in sexual intercourse with him. The doctors said: She should at least stand naked before him. The Sages said: Let him die, and she may not stand naked before him. The doctors suggested: The woman should at least converse with him behind a fence in a secluded area, so that he should derive a small amount of pleasure from the encounter. The Sages insisted: Let him die, and she may not converse with him behind a fence.

The HPV vaccine protects against cervical, vaginal, anal, penile, vulvar, and head/neck cancers (in all genders)
HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE HPV VACCINE?

The HPV vaccine is among the most effective vaccines ever developed. Gardasil was approved after four multinational studies in which 21,000 women aged 16-26 showed that Gardasil had an almost 100% effectiveness rate in preventing precancerous cervical, vaginal, and vulvar lesions, and genital warts.

Gardasil 9 was approved after a global randomized controlled trial that showed it to be 97% effective against cancers caused by the five additional HPV types (31, 33,45, 52, and 58), and equally effective against the four HPV types shared with Gardasil (6, 11, 16, and 18).

Real-world data from vaccinated populations show dramatic declines in HPV infection rates and in precancerous cervical lesions, particularly in countries with high vaccination uptake. Early data also suggest reductions in cervical cancer incidence among women who were vaccinated as adolescents.

WHY IS HPV VACCINATION IMPORTANT?

HPV is responsible for about 5% of all cancers worldwide. In the US alone, HPV causes tens of thousands of cancers every year across six cancer types - anal, cervical, oropharyngeal, penile, vaginal, and
vulvar. The vaccine can prevent the vast majority of these cancers when administered before exposure to HPV.
