2/2 In brief, we found no evidence that bilingualism affects brain reserve or brain maintenance, but evidence that it moderates the brain-cognition relationship (ie behaves as a type of “cognitive reserve”), at least cross-sectionally.

And you have to ask yourself: why was it worth $22M to them? Because to them math is just their most successful PR bid, (since the claims of AGI aren't sticking). They are betting that the (false) claim "We solved math, so we can solve everything" will gain them way more than $22M in market share.

We never imagined how far that dream would travel, into homes, into hearts, into the way generations imagined what we could still become. In a world that often feels as divided as ever, maybe that's exactly why we need it now: a reminder that unity was always the point.

How did PCI come about? Traditional scientific publishing faces many challenges, including publication costs. “Free to read and publish” is a design principle for Peer Community In: access to scientific evaluation should not depend on the ability to pay.

I appreciate your point about the danger of putting up walls but did the authors have ORCIDs and were they traceable? Could a kind of captcha prevent pure AI authors, and risk of punitive action discourage human authors who use AI for this purpose?

The Trump administration hates academic science funding, full stop. They hate where that money goes, and they hate who it goes to. They want to keep all that money for themselves, to hand out to favored cronies who can help them get elected and to steer yet more money and more power back into their hands.

That’s it. That’s the story

I wonder how replicable the students’ results are? With proper registration and ideally multiple experiments per paper, I doubt 18 months is sufficient for most university thesis/publication standards. On other hand, perhaps those standards are too stringent, and 2 years is sufficient training?
