Looking back at #UNGA81, I keep coming back to one challenge: the disconnect between development finance institutions in Washington and the global health community in Geneva. Health experts and economists need to be talking to each other.

There are still pathways to make migration work, even in a difficult political environment. At our #UNGA81 roundtable with Pathways International, it was encouraging to see government, the private sector and civil society come together around skilled migration pathways.

What does it take to develop a vaccine when the people who need it most don’t represent a large commercial market? I spoke with the BBC about Ebola vaccine development and how governments, donors, and philanthropy can help create the incentives needed for innovation. www.bbc.com/audio/play/w...

As development experts we have pushed nonexperts away, saying it was too complicated for regular people to understand. That is not good for building support. Radically simplifying would help us communicate better and make for more effective aid.

Finally read the @thelancet.com article claiming US foreign assistance cuts will lead to 14mill deaths up to 2030 which has garnered much media attention. It's problematic to say the least, X-country regression with mortality on left and US spending per head on right. 1/ 🧵
