I'm happy to publicly come forth as the JP-to-EN translator of My Journey to Her by Yūna Hirasawa. It's a great honor to be the first openly transgender & nonbinary native Japanese translator to be credited for the translation of an Eisner Award-winning manga. 😊 Please see my full statement below.

A statement from Mishima Kitan. Due to the word count restriction of the ALT text field, the ALT text is split into two parts. The second part is in the subsequent image in the thread of this post.

Statement Part 1:
"Hi, everyone. This is Mishima Kitan. Today, I'm happy to publicly come forth as the Japanese-to-English translator of My Journey to Her, an autobiographical transgender memoir, by Yūna Hirasawa. My Journey to Her won the Eisner Award for the category of Best Digital Comic in 2025. I'm very glad that this significant book has been released physically as well.

I've been using English as my second language for over thirty years now. It's a great honor to be the first openly transgender and nonbinary native Japanese translator to be credited for the translation of an Eisner Award-winning manga.

At the time of the digital release of this book in 2024, I had some personal concerns about being credited so I requested to be anonymous in the initially released edition. In March 2026, Haruko Hashimoto (the editor of the digital edition) had reached out to inform me that the book was getting a physical release and to ask if I'd like to be credited as the translator. Upon consideration, I replied, "Yes." I felt ready to be credited as the translator and I also felt that this present moment was a historically important timing to confirm the credit.

Having my own fair share of transphobic experiences and having to entirely cutting ties with my blood family in Japan at age 20 to live and transition on my own, this memoir was one of the most emotionally challenging book to translate. But, as with any work that I do, I gave my best effort."

it is interesting that I can't find any mainstream media coverage of Altman's sister Annie going viral on social media over the weekend for uploading footage of the first hour of her deposition in her lawsuit against him (one of two) in which she is alleging years of CSA

"Institutes of higher education harbour known rape dens where men foster a culture of apathy and contempt towards women and are enabled to commit sexual assault" is perhaps something we should consider more objectionable than we currently do.

People speculating about punishments and it hard to argue with the harshest penalties. At the same time, I feel for Man City fans pre 2008. It’s not their fault their clubs owners were allowed to do this in plain sight for so long. If it had been prevented from getting out of hand in the first…
